GI JOE
======
GI JOE: Pursuit of Cobra wave 3 and wave 4 figures are up for pre-order.
Each set of four figures is available for $27.99 per set. Wave 3 includes
Duke (v2), Snake-Eyes (v3), Cobra Shock Trooper, and Storm Shadow (v2). Wave
4 includes Destro (v2), Skydive, Shadow Tracker, and Lowlight.
Hasbro has announced that Snake-Eyes (v3) will not have a variant. Both
heads will be included in the package with the figure. I think this is
a relief for both retailers and collectors and will allow you to get both
heads without going to a lot of trouble and expense.
Wave 3 is expected in the first two weeks of December and wave 4 in the first
two weeks of January 2011. If you pre-order both sets together we will bill
and ship everything together when wave 4 arrives.
Some refresh cases of Pursuit of Cobra waves 1 and 2 will be shipping in
November. We will not be ordering a lot of these so recommend you put in a
pre-order to reserve figure sets if you’re interested.

So, yeah, those 25th Anniversary stands are cool and all, with the names plastered on ’em. But how useful are they really? With that funky tiered shape, and a pretty small area for actual feet to be placed, I’ve had my share of frustration with them. But SmallJoes is to the rescue!
With a couple of decades of experience with figure stands, the SmallJoes guys have engineered a nicely sized, well balanced, and 4-pegged figure stand (in black and clear!) to use with most modern era action figures, including G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Marvel, and others. They were kind enough to send me a nice sampling, and I have reviewed them right here.
Short answer? They’re great. They’re the same size and overall shape as the G.I. Joe ones, yet manage to cram in a lot more flexibility and functionality. Can’t go wrong.

Over on HissTank.com, member Hicks_Royal has reported that he uncovered the rumored black HISS Tank in a revision case alongside the Cobra Fury. Of course, Hasbro also revealed over the weekend that the packages will be exactly the same on the two vehicles, so how can you tell which is which?
Well, I can’t promise this is a definitive answer, but Hicks_Royal reports that the product number is 02381. This “Product Number” is stamped on the bottom of the box. Check out the image below (courtesy of luigi from HissTank.com):

The fans have long since complained that we don’t get any real information with these Hasbro Q & A sessions. Well, this latest round is proving that information wrong. Thanks to Toy News International, we finally have confirmation that the G.I. Joe: Renegades toys will be worked into the “Pursuit of Cobra” line and will remain in a realistic style! The exact quote is as follows:
“TNI: The G.I.Joe Pursuit of Cobra line seems to be going over well with collectors. I know at Joe Con this past summer you said that POC would continue for a few months and then you would switch to toys based on the Renegades cartoon. Is there any chance you will continue to do POC alongside Renegades stuff for collectors?
Hasbro: G.I. Joe product inspired by characters and themes from the upcoming G.I. Joe Renegades series on the Hub will be available in Fall 2011. The figures will be offered in the Pursuit of Cobra line and will have the highly-detailed, realistic look of the line.”
I’ll admit right up front…part of me was looking forward to an animation-accurate toyline, and a big part of me was convinced that’s what we were going to get. However, I know a LOT of fans who were against that concept, so for them I’m psyched to hear this. To a degree, I’m psyched myself, too, because while an animation-accurate line would have had at least some appeal to me, I am so in love with the Pursuit of Cobra, that the fact that this “style” is continuing is music to my ears as well.
Another great tidbit came out of The Terror Drome, who finally got the final say on the upcoming Pursuit of Cobra Commando Snake Eyes figure:
“3Q – The Wave 3 Snake Eyes looks amazing! Will there really be two variations released, one commando goggles head, and one visor ninja head? What is the planned distribution ratio? Hopefully a 50/50 or close as possible?
3A – We have an update for you – all carded figures will have both the Commando and Visor heads. There will no longer be variant version on this figure.”
More terrific news, for sure, and another piece of intel that should make collectors smile.
Keep your eyes peeled to GeneralsJoes.com, we’ll have our ear to the ground throughout the weekend to let folks know as more answers come in. Keep on checking the Q & A Page as well, which has already been updated with several fan site submissions!
