Cobra Island – February 26, 2010 – Today, Cobra Commander has announced that Cobracon 2010 will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island from April 29th to May 2nd. Cobra wants to make sure that the fans of Cobra do not confuse this show with GIJoecon 2010, also being held in Providence, Rhode Island from April 29th to May 2nd. No, CobraCon will be FAR more exciting!!!
Unlike last year’s convention (apologies again for the unexpected exposure of mind control gas at the Saturday Night Dinner event), this year’s CobraCon promises a smooth and relatively danger free show, complete with a special appearance by Black Major and his trusty comrades, the Red Shadows. Along with special guests, art contests, an invasion of Hasbro’s headquarters, panels and seminars featuring Hasbro and other Cobra supporters, this year’s convention is THE show to attend!
So what are you waiting for! Just head on over to our convention site now and sign up for the Cobra event of a lifetime. NOW! Cobraaaaaaaaaaa! www.CobraCon.com. Be sure to click the page to see our latest CobraCon video! About COBRA
For over 25 years, Cobra has been the leading international criminal organization, offering the whole of humanity the finest in criminal espionage, homicidal clones, doomsday scenarios and an alternative to the decadent and foolish governance of so-called ‘democracy.’ Located on Cobra Island and any number of small towns near you, Cobra reaches more people than any rival organization; with attacks on G.I. Joe and the many countries they help defend such as Japan, Great Britain, Brazil, Australia and Canada. For more information visit our convention site. The hits keep on coming… Black Major was great. Red Torch looks very nice as well… Flint was hit or miss with many of the collector crowd, though I think he looks good as well. But what many folks were waiting for were the Red Shadows themselves…and it looks like the Club stepped up to the plate.
Hit up GIJoeCon.com to see the Red Shadows in their old school glory. These look NICE. Straight up Red Shadows, pulled from the Action Force comics. Absolutely love ’em. Here’s hoping we get some decent Action Force foils to go up against them.
Using mostly Red Star parts, with a very cool looking newly tooled head, this figure definitely captures the backbone of the Red Shadow faction. A very cool looking figure. Check it out here!
Fort Worth, TX – February 11, 2010 – Fun Publications, Inc., licensee for Hasbro’s official G.I. Brian from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has sent out an email update, and mentions in the update to keep our eyes on GIJoeCon.com because official images should start appearing there in the next day or so. The full text of the email can be read below!
“In case you have not heard, Southwest airlines is having a $39 each way sale from selected markets. They fly into Providence, so if you have not booked your air, check it out! There are also some airlines that are matching this sale. You must book by Thursday, February 12.
In addition, we will be putting up the first pictures in the next day or so at GIJoeCon.com.
Also, if you have already sent in your registration form and did not mark the Hasbro tour and want to go, you need to send in the form and mark the top “additional items to be added”. The tour is free but you MUST sign up for it or you will not be able to attend.
Every registration form in house has been processed so you should see the charges on your cc bill in the next day or so. Check your bill as confirmation that we have received your form and it matches the amount on your copy.
Hard copy registration forms will go out in late March.
See you in RI for this once-in-a-lifetime convention!
Brian”
I’m really excited to see these images, and looking forward to the convention, too. Hopefully I’ll see a bunch of you guys there.
So, those of us waiting with baited breath will have to wait just a touch longer as the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has not yet debuted the brochure for the 2010 Convention in Providence. However, they have thrown us a very nice bone! The 2010 JoeCon Page has been updated with the following information:
“ – We know each of you are anxiously awaiting the posting of the GIJoeCon 2010 information
and registration forms. The forms have been finished since the first of this week but unfortunately, we have been
waiting on confirmation of a very special event at the convention, so we cannot post them just yet.
So, we have decided to give you a sneak preview at the 3 3/4″ Real American Hero convention set: Our 2010 set features the return of the classic O-Ring style action figures. Our first exciting reveal is the mysterious COBRA INTERROGATOR. This unique and exclusive figure will have a brand new head sculpt that includes a removable helmet for the first time ever!”
And then they make me one happy Joefan. While we’ve seen no confirmation yet of the Red Shadows, including Interrogator in the set just ROCKS. Anyone who reads my dio-stories knows how much of a fan I am of The Interrogator, and having an updated version in classic o-ring format makes me very happy. Taking one look at the filecard art as well, just confirms to me, too that this is a vintage style o-ring figure as well. No doubt in my mind he’s using the torso from the 1991 Snake Eyes. I really can’t wait to see more…if Hit & Run ends up in here anywhere, I may just plotz.
I did mirror the Interrogator image below, but please keep your eyes on GIJoeCon.com for the latest news and information on the 2010 G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention!
