Twenty-Six years later and still some awesome mysteries being uncovered…

mystery_joe_figureI’ve made no secret of the fact that first and foremost, I’m a Real American Hero fan.  The Anniversary stuff is great and all, but it would be impossible to match what the Real American Hero did and has done over its twelve year history, both in the states and abroad.  In these days of the “information age” it’s highly doubtful that any line will have the same variety and intrigue as the original Real American Hero did, and a perfect example of that is this:

Mystery Gray and Yellow Flash

There have been rumors and inquiries going on for years about this figure, and it would finally appear that Blood for the Baron has uncovered the mystery.  After much searching David Tree from the Blood for the Baron forums has uncovered the mysterious “F Force”, supposedly a companion to the more well-known SAS, Z-Force, Q-Force, and Space Force, all European exclusives with some unique paint deco’s and code names to separate them from the American versions (as well as some original Palitoy sculpts with more limited articulation).  A very nice write up by David can be found here.

The intricate details of this discovery are still somewhat foggy, and it remains to be seen if any of this can be 100% confirmed, but it’s very cool to at least get some insight into this figure which has remained such a mystery for the past two decades plus.

And heck, even without this whole mystery going on, you should add Blood for the Baron to your bookmarks anyway, just to check out the incredible Action Force comics and information absolutely loaded within.  A must-see site, even without this article, this just makes it even more interesting.

Rise of COBRA M.A.R.S. Officer on eBay

ws_toys, the seller who has already presented us with Breaker, the Resolute B.A.T., and the Baroness comes through again with an auction for one of the Rise of COBRA preview figures, the M.A.R.S. Officer.  The figure comes packaged in a boxed 3-pack set with two M.A.R.S. Troopers as well, which I covered pretty extensively in this post (thanks to cmderinchief of the Coil Club).

Thanks to Destro from HissTank as usual for the scoop!

I’m really warming up to these guys (and the Troopers).  The funky layered armor over the commando sweater…those very Neo-Viper like helmets (which sort of ties them into the upcoming Neo-Viper as well, even though the Neo-Viper doesn’t have his trademark helmet).  I’ve been fighting it, kicking and screaming, however slowly but surely I’m being pulled into this movie universe and the figures that go along with it.  Some of these look very interesting, even if they are remarkably dissimilar to the familiar Joes and COBRA’s that we’ve seen over the past twenty-six years.  I really like the armor on his arms, I love the webgear and helmet, and all of his weapons are terrific.  A very nice figure here, and I’m looking forward to getting the preview 3-pack in May.

New pictures of Rise of COBRA Storm Shadow

Forum member acmilan8540 of ACToys.net has posted a few new pictures of the upcoming Rise of COBRA Storm Shadow figure from the first wave of G.I. Joe movie-themed figures.  One of my favorite figures that I saw during Toy Fair last weekend, Storm Shadow is really a perfect example of how well Hasbro is able to capture the movie “look” in plastic form.  Whether or not you like the movie designs, this is a nice representation of the way the infamous COBRA assassin looks in the movie.  Pretty nice!  Pictures are below, thanks to WildWeasel of The TerrorDrome for pointing out the information!

More Resolute 5-Pack goodness

I already covered cmderinchief’s pictures of this cool new set over at JoeBattleLines, but now WildWeasel from The Terror Drome gets in on the action as well, showing a bunch of very cool pictures of the figures in this set.  I started off quite luke warm on this set, but have grown to really like what it brings, and I get more pumped up with every set of pictures I see.  Hopefully I’ll get my own hands on one soon.

Until then, enjoy WildWeasel’s pictures over at The Terror Drome.
