Yeesh, these images are hitting everywhere… packaged and loose pictures of the two upcoming Assault and Defense of COBRA Island 7-Packs are starting to hit pretty much every site on the ‘net. Man do these things look great. Items of note… Chuckles now has his proper light blue shirt! Outback appears to be in a Night Force uniform, since the regular version is hitting with the FLAK after all. Strato-Viper is now being called “Air Viper”, and the Dr. Mindbender looks considerably different than he did in promo pictures. Where it looked like he had a lot of new tooling in the promotional images, these more recent pics show Gung Ho’s torso and the Crimson Guard legs. Some curious choices, but they work, ultimately.
Overall, I’m happy with what I’m seeing here. Hasbro managed to knock out a huge chunk of a lot of “want lists” with these two 7-packs, but still left enough up in the air to keep folks hanging for those vintage homages. A neat formula. Probably the two gems of these two packs to me (besides Hit and Run. WOOt we’re getting a Hit and Run!!! 😀 ) would be Zap and Alley-Viper. It takes a lot to make an Original 13 guy appeal to me, but Zap rocks my world. Those twin holsters are too cool, and even though his uniform is relatively simple, it manages to be crammed with nice little details. Love that figure. Alley-Viper…well, I can’t really say enough about that one. He is pure beauty. Enough of the words, though, check out the pictoral goodness:

So far still no word on whether or not these will officially be released, but cmderinchief got his hands on Wave 3 of the Combat Heroes sets and shared some images with The Terror Drome. Check out the mirrored images below.

You can always tell what the potential popularity of an upcoming toyline is by the number of overseas sellers who are offering pre-production product for it. So far there seems to be a rather large groundswell of G.I. Joe related sellers, and the buyers must be speaking with their wallets, because the stuff keeps on popping up. Well known seller unitedwell923 has listed a number of new auctions with some pretty neat pictures mixed in amongst them, including Resolute Destro, Wal-Mart Gung Ho and Copperhead, and a mysterious red uniformed Viper.
Also, thanks to some digging around by HissCommander from the Terror Drome, we’ve also got some neat images of Rise of COBRA Combat Heroes figures. These don’t appear to be listed on eBay yet, but I would imagine that could be coming at any time.

There’s a question mark on the end there because I have no idea if this is a single pack Hawk or what…just looking at the head sculpt, it’s definitely Quaid-like, and he’s considerably different than the version that comes with The Pit, but we still don’t really know where this figure is going to come from.
Check out the thread on JBL here, and I’ve got the images mirrored below as well.

One of the more underwhelming toys coming in the Rise of COBRA line, in my opinion, is the COBRA Gunship. It looks mostly like a helicopter with no rotors and no real physical way to fly, yet is shown in trailers whipping through the sky. How exactly does that work? Well, I suppose it’s no more out of the ordinary than Trubble Bubbles, etc… but one thing this picture showed me is the size of the Gunship. I don’t know why, but I didn’t realize it was so large. That actually impresses me a bit more, though I’m still not wild about the whole look of the vehicle.
Anyway, check out this thread on AC Toys, or check out the trio of images below.

I know it’s been a while since I did one of these, but I just couldn’t resist. The inclusion of Matt Trakker into the 25th Anniversary line created quite a ripple in the fandom with arguments about a non-Joe character taking up a “slot” for what could have been a better choice, or wondering why MASK was getting any G.I. Joe love at all. Myself? I thought it was a very cool idea. Well, HissTank member BHiga6181 takes it one step further and whipped up a full blown M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. team with masks and all. Both BHiga and myself have to give huge props as well to Tri-Gate Creations for their awesome work on the masks that were used for this project as well.
Check out these two threads on HissTank for all the names and details, and you can hit up the images mirrored below. Nice work on this one!
