Road trip time!
On Thursday I’ve gotta make a statewide trip for work, and when I do that, I use some personal time so I can take some side trips to stores along the way. Of course, when I say “along the way” in talking about Southern Vermont, I mean, go way the hell out of my way, but at least a little less out of my way then than it would be now.
That makes no sense.
Anyway. This Thursday I’ll be hitting a handful of Targets and Wal-Marts (alas, no Toys “R” Us on this voyage) and will be reporting back on my voyage. Follow me on Twitter to get the step-by-step rundown, or simply enjoy watching me wallow in my own self-pity as I hunt in vain for Pursuit of Cobra Alley-Vipers. I chat a bit at each stop, take some pics, and feel sorry for myself. Doesn’t everyone want to watch that?
Wish me luck!

I hadn’t heard his name mentioned in connection with G.I. Joe: Renegades yet, but in looking at the SDCC videos I just posted about, he was actually in attendance at the round table for the Renegades panel, apparently working alongside Henry Gilroy.
Perhaps best known for being one of the head writers for the fandom-acclaimed Transformers: Animated series, he also has a wealth of other animation experience, including significant writing work on Ben10, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, and Legion of Super Heroes. His work also goes back to the good old 1990’s, where comic animation first really hit the mainstream, and he had his fingers in all of it, having a large role in Spider-Man and X-Men, and writing some well-received episodes of Batman: The Animated Series as well.
You can check out his IMDB profile right here.

So, for a week or two now we’ve heard debate over what was revealed at SDCC from a G.I. Joe: Renegades perspective. Now, thanks to “OpenYourToys” on
YouTube, you can watch the entire SDCC panel yourself!
I have, of course, mirrored the videos on the
G.I. Joe: Renegades SuperPage as well.
At the risk of being labelled a Joe cheerleader as usual, I really enjoy how the producers interact with the crowd…they do seem to know their Joe history, and in my opinion, they have a real vested interest in not just making a G.I. Joe cartoon, but making a good cartoon. We’ll find out if my assumption is correct this fall. Thanks to dj7000 from
HissTank.com for the info.

Slowly but surely I’m making my way through the first wave of G.I. Joe: Pursuit of Cobra figures.
Already I’ve got Alley-Viper, Duke, and Beachhead posted, and now I’ve added Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Snow Job. I believe that just leaves Cobra Commander and Firefly, and with my HasbroToyShop order shipping this past weekend, I should be able to get those posted as well.
Just because I’m anal retentive, too, I may move the Beachhead review to pre-production and do my own production level review as well. Hawkwinter did a fantastic job, but I love Beachhead so much I’m itching to get a review in there as well.
Anyway, check out the Pursuit of Cobra Review Page to check out all of the PoC reviews posted to date!

There isn’t a whole lot of new information on it, but I’ve launched the G.I. Joe: Renegades SuperPage. Basically gathered all of the assorted video and images together, as well as details about the production team, etc…
As launch day gets closer, expect more detailed information and as the series gets underway, I will be launching a full-blown episode guide as well, with reviews, video clips (hopefully) and episode synopsis.
Check it out right here!

My initial reaction to the Ice Cutter was one of “meh”…it didn’t do a whole lot for me, and I’m not big on arctic vehicles anyway, but I’m slowly coming around. For some reason it has a very vintage feel, I love the deco, and the way the treads move is pretty unique and cool.
The Snow Serpent is… okay, I guess. Very similar to the Toys “R” Us deco, but with a red parachute pouch instead of blue, he fits in nicely with the Ice Viper Elite’s, that are now unreleased. Still, the Arctic Threat Destro has some nice red elements as well that ties everything together. Updated images from ACToys.net also show off some pretty cool detail like the super-poseable cannon and the awesome frosted windshield. Check out the mirrored images below, and thanks to The Terror Drome for pointing them out!
