Pursuit of Cobra Spirit emerges from the jungle

I know I’ve been holding myself to trying not to promote the overseas auctions for toys that are hitting retail in a few short months, but I feel compelled to let folks know that the absolutely awesome looking Pursuit of Cobra Spirit Ir0n-Knife figure is hitting famed auction site the Black Sheep Toy Store.  The price is inflated, and I strongly encourage everyone to wait until he’s available at $7.00 in your local Toys “R” Us in a couple short months.
But I might just be a hypocrite. :shifty:
Check it out right here. Big thanks to GeneralsJoes reader Tony for the heads up!

A little something for the 12" fans…

I know I don’t talk about the 12″ Joes much on this page, mostly because honestly they don’t interest me a whole lot.  But that changed with the last JoeCon in Providence.  Unfortunately it didn’t change quite fast enough.
We all know about the upcoming 3 3/4″ Adventure Team figures, and how they’re tying the AT guys into the Real American Hero realm with the introduction of Dr. Venom (finally!!) into action figure form.  Well, the Collectors’ Club is doing something similar in the 12″ scale as well.
In Providence this year, they introduced everyone to the first (at least I believe it’s the first) bad guy 12″ figure, the “Henchman”.  I was sorely tempted to pick this guy up, but in the end, I held off, and I’m kind of regretting it now, because he’s been sold out of the Club store, and will likely be tough to get a hold of.  Strongly based on the nameless and  faceless “bad guys” from the 70’s James Bond movies, this mysterious “Henchman” serves an organization…  but it’s an organization that all Joe fans should be intimately familiar with.
Take a good look at the picture of the Henchman above…and look at the logo.  The logo resembles the planet Mars.  Yes, the Henchman here is an agent of MARS.  A very cool tie in to Destro and the MARS organization, and now the Joe universes are all tied together nicely.
As a further explanation of the story, GIJCC staff member Lanny also did a pretty cool movie based on the comic that came with the 12″ set this year.  Check that out below.

I really love how the Club is weaving a cool new story tying all of these universes together…  now I wonder where Sigma 6 fits in.

How did I miss this? Target DCPI listings for Pursuit of Cobra posted!

Maybe I’ve been recuperating from the Convention, I dunno…  but reliable Target staffer kennywr22 over at HissTank dug up and posted the Target DCPI numbers for the upcoming Pursuit of Cobra product.  I will repeat them below:

  • Figures 087-06-2239 6.99 each
  • Mechs 087-06-2240 19.99 each
  • Bravo vehicles(new #) 087-06-2241 24.99 each

Figures $6.99!  Coolness.  He also mentions that these are hitting distribution centers, and could start arriving in stores within 1 – 2 months.  Retail typically does their section “resets” in late July or early August, so that would certainly fit the time frame.
It seems like freaking forever since we saw these figures for the first time.  Holy crap am I fired up to finally start getting production versions in hand.  Bring ’em on!

Yes, Jungle-Viper is as #@*&! awesome as you thought he would be

The convention has been over for less than a week, but Gyre-Viper over at HissTank has not taken a break.  With a constant flood of images and information over the past few days, he’s keeping the Joe fan busy.
Well, his latest indulgement is the sickness known as Jungle-Viper.  This figure captured everyone’s attention at JoeCon last year, but sometimes the actual product doesn’t live up to expectations.  From the looks of these images, this is not something we have to worry about here.
Wow.  Amazing looking figure.  Simply amazing.

Look at that thing.  Damn.  The Pursuit of Cobra is shaping up to be one bad ass iteration of the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra mythos.  Imagine the mail away Cobra Commander with the heavy weapons Destro, Zartan, and Firefly, flanked by a squad of Jungle Vipers and the Cobra Shock Troopers.  Absolutely SICK.  I cannot WAIT to get my hands on these figures.  Fall and 2011 cannot come soon enough.  Kudos, Hasbro…  kudos.
