Little preview from the upcoming comic that comes with the video game

Another little tidbit I got in my box of goodies was a comic book that looks to be the one that comes with the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA video game.  There are only seven pages of new story in it, and these pages were also featured in Issue #1 of the Rise of  COBRA movie adaptation, but I haven’t seen much chatter about it, so I figured I’d bring some attention to it.  Maybe it’s just because I love the Marvel Comics character “Taskmaster” so much, but Helix is really resonating with me.  I love the character, I love her look, and I really like the concept a lot.  She’s apparently going to be a fairly core component of the upcoming video game (which really excites me), but I hope she kind of indoctrinates into the regular IDW universe as well.  Perhaps the Helix special being released in August will touch on that a bit.

The story basically involves General Hawk giving Duke a rundown of her abilities as we watch some video of her in action…then he finishes the story by saying that they believe COBRA has her, which I would imagine leads directly into the video game itself.

Here are some of the panels below…a pretty good read, even for only a few pages.

Five Page preview for G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA Movie Adaptation #3

Phil over at JoeReloaded comes through again, this time with a five-page preview for the upcoming third issue of the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA movie adaptation.

BE WARNED!  There are major spoilers in this 5-page preview!  As such, I’m posting the actual images after the “jump”, or you can also check them out here.

I will say, I enjoyed the first issue of the adaptation, and the second two are looking really good as well.  I’ve already been spoiled on the events in the film, but the way IDW is fleshing them out in comic form works really nicely.

G.I. Joe: Origins #5 reviews around the web

The first arc of G.I. Joe: Origins has come and gone, and with the release of the fifth issue yesterday we apparently get some resolution and some progression into the formation of the G.I. Joe team.  A couple of reviews have already hit the web, you can check them out below:

I wasn’t too high on this series when it first kicked off, but each issue has been an improvement over the last, and I really look forward to seeing how it all wraps up in Issue #5.

Nice interview with G.I. Joe Comic Pack artist Jeremy Dale

ComicBook.com spoke with Jeremy Dale as G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA is looming next month and asked him some neat questions about his work on the G.I. Joe Comic Packs and working with Larry Hama.  Jeremy proves to be a fan of the property who really appreciated his time working with the brand, which is very cool to read.

Check out the full article here, then pay a visit to Jeremy-Dale.com to see some of his work (or see what original art he has for sale).  He’s also got a great FAQ entry about his work on the Comic Packs here.

5 Page Previews for G.I. Joe: Origins #5 and Rise of COBRA Adaptation #2

Phil Kost from JoeReloaded.com passes on the word that he’s posted 5-page previews for upcoming G.I. Joe issues from IDW.  These two issues are slated to hit shelves next Wednesday.  Check them out on JoeReloaded here and here, and also take a peek at the mirrors below.  Keep in mind, of course, there may be movie-related spoilers in the 5-page preview for the movie adaptation.  I think the thumbnails are small enough to prevent any real detail, but always keep that in mind.

Art for unpublished IDW G.I. Joe book posted on ComicArtFans.com

ComicArtFans member Shane Simek has posted 8 pages of lineart from an unpublished #0 issue that eventually got dumped for the story IDW went with when the format of the Joe book changed in production.

With art by Robert Atkins and a story written by Larry Hama, some of the stuff looks a lot more retro in nature, with some really dramatic action sequences as well, especially for only an 8-page layout.  Check out the great images right here.
