Jonesing for the Red Shadows? The Club store still has 'em!

So did you miss the Convention in Rhode Island a couple of weeks ago?  Did you forget to order your Homefront Heroes set, or did you just want to stock up on some stuff you could only buy in Providence?
Well, no worries…  the GIJoeClub store still has some items left over from JoeCon 2010 in their Club Store.  Check out the links below to pick up items that you might have missed otherwise.

These are available in very limited numbers, so don’t wait too long.  A few convention items are already sold out, and this might be one of the last opportunities we have to pick up o-ring tooled product.  Check ’em all out at the G.I. Joe Club Store.

A little something for the 12" fans…

I know I don’t talk about the 12″ Joes much on this page, mostly because honestly they don’t interest me a whole lot.  But that changed with the last JoeCon in Providence.  Unfortunately it didn’t change quite fast enough.
We all know about the upcoming 3 3/4″ Adventure Team figures, and how they’re tying the AT guys into the Real American Hero realm with the introduction of Dr. Venom (finally!!) into action figure form.  Well, the Collectors’ Club is doing something similar in the 12″ scale as well.
In Providence this year, they introduced everyone to the first (at least I believe it’s the first) bad guy 12″ figure, the “Henchman”.  I was sorely tempted to pick this guy up, but in the end, I held off, and I’m kind of regretting it now, because he’s been sold out of the Club store, and will likely be tough to get a hold of.  Strongly based on the nameless and  faceless “bad guys” from the 70’s James Bond movies, this mysterious “Henchman” serves an organization…  but it’s an organization that all Joe fans should be intimately familiar with.
Take a good look at the picture of the Henchman above…and look at the logo.  The logo resembles the planet Mars.  Yes, the Henchman here is an agent of MARS.  A very cool tie in to Destro and the MARS organization, and now the Joe universes are all tied together nicely.
As a further explanation of the story, GIJCC staff member Lanny also did a pretty cool movie based on the comic that came with the 12″ set this year.  Check that out below.

I really love how the Club is weaving a cool new story tying all of these universes together…  now I wonder where Sigma 6 fits in.

Very nice lot of Anniversary figures on eBay

Throughout my time on the web, I’ve met some guys who take the G.I. Joe hobby VERY seriously.  I appreciate those folks who work long and hard to enrich the hobby and add to it, I think the community is much better for it.
But every once in a while it’s fun to see someone kind of mock themselves.  A long time Joe fan who runs Broca Blutch is needing some cash for college, so he asked me to let folks know he is selling nearly his entire G.I. Joe collection on eBay now.
Normally, if folks ask me to do this, I don’t bother.  But the guys over a Broca Blutch are unique:

  1. They do not hesitate to berate and make fun of themselves as G.I. Joe collectors.
  2. They’re buddies with a self-proclaimed “rebel blog” called Smash the State, who all pretty much hate my guts.  So any time I can show that I’m the bigger person, I’ll take advantage of it.

So, anyway, check out the auction.  Bid it up real high.  Whether your pay or not is up to you…  :shifty:

JoeCon 2010 Recap – Saturday (GIJCC Round Table)

Along with the standard Hasbro fare, Saturday was also enjoyable due to the GI Joe Collectors’ Club round table that lays out the processes of getting the Convention Exclusives to the masses, as well as any potential projects that are in the wings.
Unfortunately, with the Convention being so early in the year this year, there wasn’t really any intel about the membership figure for next year or anything like that, but there are still some pretty cool things potentially in the wings.  Click the “Read the rest of this entry” link below to check it all out.

JoeCon 2010 Recap – Saturday (2011 Product Reveal)

Saturday is when the fun really began!  As cool as the initial releases for G.I. Joe: The Pursuit of Cobra were, they simply could NOT compare to the boundless wonder of 4″ plastic that would be unveiled on Saturday.
It still astounds me that this  level of detail, articulation, and design can be so well implemented in such a small scale.  Mattel and Playmates need to start taking notes.  They’re not even in the same league as Hasbro in this scale.
The first excitement of the day was the Hasbro Seminar where they revealed the 2011 lineup for G.I. Joe: The Pursuit of Cobra!  Images and my personal thoughts are below, after clicking the “Read the rest of this entry” link.
