What’s on Joe Mind Episode 67 is online you FOC’s!

Any episode that features Chuck and Kevin talking about tasteful nudity is bound to be a legendary one, and this episode delivers.  The guys talk to Jim Sorenson, author of the fantastic G.I. Joe Field Manual, and then proceed to put him through a miserable 2 hours of off topic rambling, Gangnam Style free-style rapping, and yes, tasteful nudity.

Jim took it like a champ, and the episode ends up running the gamut, talking about the New Jersey Collectors Convention, Kevin’s excellent Metalhead figure, as well as the G.I. Joe Field Manual and the latest and greatest G.I. Joe news.

The state of Dio-Stories in 2012 – Where are we and what happened?

I will say first of all, this is a direct response to the excellent write up by zedhatch (Toxie’s Universe on Twitter) over at The Terror Drome where he analyzes where Dio-Stories were in the fandom several years ago, where they are now, and exactly what happened along the way.

Zed has been doing dio-stories for a very long time, and has some good insight and experience on the subject, but I figure, considering what my own situation is and has been that I would write a companion piece to respond to some of this points and possibly bring up some of my own.

Click the Read the Rest of the Story link below for the full article, and thanks to Zed and The Terror Drome for speaking about this.  It’s a subject that is obviously near and dear to my heart, and something I’ve been struggling with for a few years, so I love having the opportunity to read (and respond) about it.

G.I. Joe: Convention Mission Brazil Python Patrol Stinger Guest Review

There aren’t many Conventions that I’ve missed over the past twelve years, but it just so happens that 2011 was one of them.  It was also the year the Collectors Club officially jumped with both feet in the pool into “Modern Era” figure style.  I think this change has served them very well.  Not only do they have a lot more parts to choose from for their figures, but there seems to be a lot more collector demand and much better sell through.

That was certainly true of the Mission Brazil set.  While I was recently able to get my hands on the Python Patrol Stinger (with great help from Jay of CardedHeroes.com), fellow What’s on Joe Mind host Mike wrote this review for me a while ago, and I’m eternally grateful.  A lot of folks don’t realize the amount of time and work that goes into review writing…  it’s not a short “bang it out” type of thing, and for Mike to take his valuable time to do this for me was very awesome of him.

It almost lets me overlook his repeated gut-punches regarding last year’s Super Bowl.  Almost.

All that side, he took some great pictures and did one hell of a write up.  You can check out the Python Patrol Stinger review now linked to my original Mission: Brazil Review (hosted on the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Review section) or just hit up the direct link below.  The Stinger review is with the “Extra’s” on Page 3.

The 2012 New Jersey Collectors’ Con goes BANG October 7th!

Over the past couple of years, the New Jersey Collectors’ Con has made a splash by offering up some fantastic custom HISS Tanks as part of their door prize at the convention.

The next NJCC is hitting Cherry Hill, NJ October 7th, and with all the credit in the world to Kevin Watts, Fran from HissTank, Raging Spoon, Nova, Cobra Stickers, and many other folks involved, they are bringing one hell of a cool exclusive to the show.

Fresh of the G.I. Joe Collectors Club which brought the Iron Grenadiers back to the forefront, the NJCC is giving us a fantastic updated Metalhead for the October show.  With a custom cast head and weapons set, and some very cool parts, this figure is…well… pretty freaking amazing.  The figure also features a reverse engineered G.I. Joe: Retaliation Swamp Viper vest, which is astounding.  Incredible.

Check out a plethora of mirrored images below, and follow NJCC on their Facebook page or New Jersey Collectors Con for any and all updates.  A great looking figure, and sure to be a hell of an awesome show.

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 66 is online

Coil Con is over and Gary has some editing time again, so here is episode 66 of What’s on Joe Mind, the foremost G.I. Joe podcast on the ‘net!  The guys give a little run down of what’s been going on in our pesky “real lives” to delay episode releases, and we also have the immense pleasure to speak with Hasbro designers Andrew and Trina about the work they’ve done for Hasbro in general and on the G.I. Joe brand specifically.  Some awesome insight about the modern Joes design philosophy and the infamous Dollar Store figures!  Hit up our Podbean page or check out the Embedded players below.  Show notes as always are after the jump.
