Official press images for SDCC Exclusive Shockwave HISS and Jinx

Hasbro PR has made available the press images for upcoming San Diego ComicCon Exclusive “Shockwave” HISS Tank w/ Destro and Constructicon B.A.T. as well as Kim “Jinx” Arashikage in both her regular red uniform and in the variant white uniform.  Along with the press images, we get our first official looks at the box art for Shockwave and the card art for both Jinx figures.

Of note, according to GeneralsJoes Twitter friend Twitziller, the Jinx card art may represent the first time a 25th homage figure was released with “digital” explosion background.  Someone feel free to correct us if we’re wrong, but I can’t seem to remember another figure using that.

Check out the official images below, and if you want to see what I thought of the upcoming SDCC Jinx figures check out the main release review right here and the white uniform variant right here.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #179

Ugh, I’ve been lagging again.  With the furious onslaught of G.I. Joe: Retaliation news and so much other stuff happening in my personal life and the fandom, I’ve just lost step a bit with my IDW reviews, but I’m going to endeavor to get back up to speed if at all possible.

Hopefully no one thinks a lack of reviews is any indication of my enjoyment of what IDW is doing, because it is not.  I’m still thoroughly enjoying the roller coaster ride of the Real American Hero title especially, though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little bit happy to see this Blue Ninja saga coming to an end.

GeneralsJoes Reviews the San Diego ComicCon Jinx figures!

The movie is pushed back to 2013, G.I. Joe: Renegades is long gone, and by all accounts, mass retail toy shelves are going to be barren for the next 6 – 8 months.  Deth of teh line!!1!

But wait…there is a light on the horizon in the form of the San Diego ComicCon figures (and vehicle) that should hit the West Coast shortly after JoeCon this year.  For this year’s action figure offerings, Hasbro is going back in time, and now forward in time to bring us some great representations of G.I. Joe ninja finance clerk Jinx!  We have the red version taking us back to better days of 1987…well, except for that whole Cobra La thing.  And we’ve got a white version sporting a head sculpt looking very much like Elodie Yung who represents Jinx in the film, now coming out in nine months.  The whole time continuum is collapsing!

I struggled a bit with where to put these reviews, but since the packaging is very 25th Anniversary themed, that’s where they are.  So check out my 25th Anniversary Review Page, or just hit the links below!  A big thanks to Gyre Viper from the JDSO Podcast and Jay from Carded Heroes for spreading the love a bit and letting me get these reviews out there.  Enjoy.

From the archives – awesome concept art from unproduced G.I. Joe transport

Kevin Watts has gotten a lot of love from GeneralsJoes, mostly due to his excellent custom work, but not only does Kevin do great customs, but he’s also been a fan of the property and collecting for a long time, and he has a lot of items in his personal collection that have never seen the light of day.  He collects pre-production items, concept art, and has a veritable museum of incredible collectibles.

Thankfully, he has gotten his own website rolling, the 788th Armored Division, and has used it as a platform to showcase a fantastic piece of concept art for a vehicle that has never been released.  Designed apparently as an armored transport, this vehicle looks like it was slated to be released in 1986 and has some shared concepts with the Rolling Thunder, which was released in 1988.

Out of respect for Kevin, I’m not mirroring the images here, but you should definitely check out the 788th Armored Division to see these images.  They are worth your time.

UPDATE – Kevin has kindly given me permission to mirror a few images, so check them out below.  More are available at his site.  Thanks, Kevin!

GeneralsJoes reviews the Dollar Store Duke, Shipwreck, and Snake Eyes

I started these reviews with the bad guys yesterday, and today I finish off my reviews of the already infamous Dollar Store Joes with a look at the G.I. Joe side of the house.  Like the Cobra figures, these guys use a ton of existing parts, not a huge array of paint apps, but a whole ton of creativity.
