First look at some promotional artwork for G.I. Joe: Retaliation film

This comes to me from a reported former designer at one of Paramount’s art agencies…thanks to him for forwarding this along!  He’s not entirely sure what the purpose of this poster was, but it was some sort of promotional artwork. I know we’ve been seeing a lot of the photo-realistic posters, but this one is pretty unique and interesting with a real artistic flair.

Check out this poster exclusively for the first time right here on GeneralsJoes!

Three new images from G.I. Joe: Retaliation surface at Collider

Collider.com has scored some exclusive images from G.I. Joe: Retaliation featuring Snake Eyes, Flint, Jinx, Roadblock, Duke, and Joe Colton.  The images look to take place throughout various parts of the film, with the Joes in varying states of distress.

Check out the images at Collider, or mirrored below.

I know we’ve seen the Colton and shirtless Flint ones before, but the image of the four characters walking through fire is definitely a new one.  If you look at Roadblock, too, it looks as if he’s holding that suitcase launching system that Firefly and Zartan have been using in so many of the TV Spots and trailers.

Interesting…

Continuing the countdown…17 days left and reason #17 to see G.I. Joe: Retaliation

With the premiere happening yesterday in Korea, and a new influx of film clips, the excitement is certainly building for the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Twitziller is feeding on it.  Another update was posted today, looking forward towards March 29th.  We’ve seen the below vehicle throughout several trailers and TV spots, and it certainly belongs on this list.

#17:

Something that the last G.I. Joe film perhaps missed the “boat” on (no pun intended) was using existing G.I. Joe hardware as a template or building block when designing their vehicles.  There was certainly some state of the art technology and vehicles in The Rise of Cobra, but most of them appeared totally conceived out of thin air.  From all appearances, G.I. Joe: Retaliation will have at least a bit more base in vehicular reality.  The HISS has already gotten a lot of attention, and the Water Moccasin above certainly serves attention as well.  Some will make connections between the Cobra helicopter and the FANG as well.  It only makes sense.

Granted the fan boat you see above isn’t a true real world equivalent to the Water Moccasin but it takes that foundation and really ramps it up.  I love how Twitziller puts some attention above specifically on water based vehicles as well, considering how prevalent they were in the Cobra motor pool.  From the Water Moccasin to the Moray, the Piranha, BUGG, and Hammerhead, Cobra was not shy about watercraft, and I’m glad that is being explored in the film.

Three is the magic number? A THIRD G.I. Joe: Retaliation clip unveiled

Wow!  Lots of action from Paramount International today, most likely connected with the world premier of the film in Seoul, South Korea.  Like the first two clips, this one features a lot of footage that has been seen in previous trailers, but with just enough extra spice to make it interesting.

To me, it’s the little things that are grabbing me here.  The way Flint scoffs a little bit as Roadblock is talking shows me a lot of character early on.  This scene is also especially ominous considering how many of the G.I. Joe troops on this particular transport aren’t going to make it home.  A pretty grim way to start the film.

The day is coming…18 days until G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Reason #18 to see it!

With the thrilling Mountain Battle clip this morning as well as the news that the Premiere is airing in Korea, the reality of G.I. Joe: Retaliation’s impending release is starting to sink it.  I think this thing is really going to happen!  Twitziller thinks the same thing, and has launched Reason #18 why G.I. Joe: Retaliation is going to be great.  Seems like a no brainer, but there are elements to it that folks might not have considered.

#18:

I mean, it seems pretty clear, right?  You’re watching a G.I. Joe movie because you want to see the G.I. Joe team?  Well, sure, but it goes beyond that.  Twitziller mentioned it perfect in a single paragraph up above, and it’s something that both Larry Hama and the Sunbow folks understood.  The G.I. Joe team is a team at its essence.  A group of men and women coming together to face a common threat.  They each have their own specialties and talents, and when they bring them together, they can be unstoppable.  In G.I. Joe: Retaliation that teamwork is even more important as the Joe team is whittled down to a handful of members who must come together to survive.

One key word above must be focused on as well…  “diverse”.  The G.I. Joe team truly had a fantastic mixture of genders, race, and personalities.  They weren’t all hardcore, chiseled bad asses.  Some might argue that fact has been lost a little bit in recent days, but I think at its essence the spirit and teamwork in G.I. Joe seems to be carrying through.
