Five Page preview for IDW G.I. Joe: Operation HISS #4

Tomorrow is wednesday, which means today we’ve got a five page preview of the upcoming fourth issue of G.I. Joe: Operation HISS.  Written to take place after the events in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, it injects a bit more seriousness into the source material than its animated counterpart.
Speaking of the animated counterpart, we were supposed to get a new episode last Friday…wonder what happened.
Anyway, the five page preview is below.
G.I. Joe: Operation Hiss #4
Brian Reed (w) • Agustin Padilla (a) • Joe Corroney, Padilla (c)
With G.I. Joe captured and held prisoner, Major Bludd puts his master plan into action… and makes sure that the Joes take the fall!
*2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.
FC • 32 pages • $3.99

Five Page preview for IDW G.I. Joe #17

New comic day today, and G.I. Joe #17 is on the docket…thanks to The Terror Drome, we’ve got a 5-page preview to share:

Written by Chuck Dixon with art by the awesome Robert Atkins.  Interesting twist to have the Hard Master still alive in the IDW universe.  I like it.  I think seeing the whole Hard Master/Storm Shadow/Zartan conflict unfold in real time rather than as a flashback is a cool way to look at the story.
And yeah, I know a lot of folks are complaining about Destro’s full metal armor, but I think that’s kind of a neat twist, too.  I still say IDW is doing a good job marrying the vintage look and feel with some interesting new ideas and giving us a pretty cool new sandbox to play in.  It feels like it’s taken absolutely forever to get to this point, but things are finally starting to flesh themselves out.

Newsrama posts exclusive preview for G.I. Joe #155 1/2

At free comic day coming up in a couple of months, IDW has promised to launch a new book based on the Marvel continuity after it ended with issue #155.  With the immortal Larry Hama penning the book, it sounded like a dream come true for Marvel fans, and now Newsrama has posted a very nice 5-page preview.
I’ve been hopping around online and I’m already seeing some serious negative buzz.  I really don’t get it.  Have people already forgotten how campy and over-the-top the Marvel series was at the point of it’s end?  I dunno…  I wasn’t bowled over by the 5-page preview at all, but I do think it definitely continued the tone of the Marvel series as it came to its end.  Certainly I would prefer it to come back down a bit and be a bit more serious as the series goes on, but this does seem pretty faithful to the 90’s era Marvel book.  We’ll see how it all goes.  I’ve mirrored the preview below.

Operation: HISS 5-Page preview from IDW

While the Operation: HISS animated short left quite a bit to be desired, I think fans of the Rise of Cobra universe have at least a little more enthusiasm for the upcoming IDW Mini-Series that takes place after the events in the motion picture.  Hopefully they’ll explain some inconsistencies (like how Storm Shadow is still alive, and why Cobra is still such a threat with Destro, Cobra Commander, and Baroness all behind bars) and give the fans some more…  “mature” action.  The preview itself looks like the same comic we got with the Electronic Arts video game, but obviously with 4 issues to work with, it’ll branch out more from there.
Check out the preview below!

G.I. Joe: Cobra II Issue #2 5-Page Preview

Tomorrow is new comics day, but even better, tomorrow is new G.I. Joe: COBRA comics day!  Yay!
Easily my favorite G.I. Joe themed comic in the last 13 years, Costa and Gage continue to hammer it out of the park with their unique film noir style, excellent dialog, and no holds barred action.  But anyone who knows me knows that I love seeing some obscure characters get attention, and they are doing that as well!  Issue #1 already gave us Croc Master…Issue #2 brings Chameleon on board (though, I did it first…  :shifty: ) and we’ve been promised Crystal Ball and even Serpentor.  Normally this would make me cringe, but I have the utmost faith in these guys, they’ve only done awesome things so far.  Below you’ll find a 5-page preview of this latest issue of G.I. Joe: Cobra II, and I know I’ll be practically waiting at the comic store for it to arrive.
