Discount G.I. Joe figures reportedly found at a United States Dollar General

Granted, no images have surfaced yet, but over on JoeCustoms.com, Stormtrooper53 is reporting that he has found Snake Eyes and Cobra Trooper at his local Dollar General store today!  I am inclined to believe him, even without the images.

You can see the report in this thread, I suspect it’s just a matter of time before more sightings start emerging.

Gentlemen (and ladies) start your engines!

Thanks to Billah Killcarr for the information.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Collectors Club Footloose!

I promise I will refrain from the Kevin Bacon jokes that I’ve been seeing a lot of since this figure was first announced…  🙂

I’ve never been a huge Footloose fan, in all honesty, though reading his filecard made me wonder why not.  As we should all expect, Larry Hama was able to infuse so much damn character into someone in such a tiny written space, and Footloose is no exception.  He really is a fascinating guy.  I have read some complaints that this version of the character makes him a bit harder and “edgier” than folks would prefer, but I disagree.  I think this figure is pretty great.

Nice and military, great articulation, an awesome head sculpt… and the price is right!  Check out the full review below.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals another Convention figure!

And this time it’s Stormavik!

Yet another great looking member of the Oktober Guard, the Club has shown that they are pulling out the stops for these figures.  Stormavik has a new head sculpt and some nicely stacked up body mold, using the legs from Shadow Tracker and the arms from City Strike Destro.  Wow.  He’s definitely tweaked for a more modern update, and it looks pretty friggen great.  The Pursuit of Cobra Duke webgear suits the figure exceptionally well, too.

Check out GIJoeCon.com for the lowdown and I’ve got the awesome image mirrored below.  This set is looking better and better every day!

YoJoe.com overhauls the figure archive, and it is spectacular!

One of the longest running G.I. Joe websites on the web, and a bastion of research for every Joe fan everywhere, YoJoe.com has quite simply left an indelible mark on the fabric of not just the online G.I. Joe community, but I would argue on the fabric of the action figure community in general.

I often see people in other collecting arenas asking “where can I find the “YoJoe” for Star Wars?  Where can I find the “YoJoe” for Transformers?”  It has serviced G.I. Joe fans for many years, and I would argue it is quite simply the most impactful G.I. Joe themed website ever.  Just remember the first time you stumbled upon it and immediately were thrust back to the good old days.

But YoJoe.com isn’t content to rest on their laurels and survive based on the robustness of their figure archive…they’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes for several months, and I dare say even years to do a soup-to-nuts overhaul of the entire action figure archive.  The results are quite simply amazing.

With a totally revamped index, and much improved layout for the individual action figure entries, YoJoe has drastically improved on what was already a fantastic resource.  You can see all the various different versions of the figures in a single entry, and you should never have to leave a page to look for another page.  In the grand scheme of things to folks visiting the site, the changes result in a much more intuitive and fluid interface.

As of this posting, the Action Figure Archive is the only section that has been completed, but there are many more to come.  Kudos to good friend of GeneralsJoes Terry Dizard and Phil Donnelly for all of the work they put in, and big props to the tech guys for building this all out.  They made a great resource even better.

JoeDeClassified continues the barrage with the Mighty KWINN!

Yes, he is not a myth.  He is not a fairy tale.  Finally after almost 30 years, the engimatic Eskimo known only as Kwinn is finally on the precipice of release…and you can get your first look at in house pictures right now over on JoeDeclassified.com!

It seemed to take forever for Kwinn to finally get his plastic due in his most familiar jungle khaki look, but when he debuted a JoeCon last year it seemed to be worth the wait.  He was friggen perfect.  Then, suddenly he wasn’t.  Delays.  Nobody was entirely sure how or when the figure would see release.  There were rampant rumors of convention exclusives and even *gasp* cancellation.

Well, there is still no concrete word about the fate of Kwinn the Eskimo, but evidently the figure is in some stage of production, because Gyre-Viper has got some test shots, baby, and he’s posted them RIGHT HERE.  I am mirroring all of these images below because Kwinn deserves all the attention he gets.  A day like today I absolutely love the irony…on a day where we’re all waiting with baited breath to see the 21st Century iteration of G.I. Joe in trailer form, a dated 25 year old legend gets his time in the spotlight.

It is as it should be.  Hopefully we’ll all be able to get him at retail sooner rather than later, but until then, live vicariously through Gyre-Viper.

As if the Dollar Store exclusives weren’t enough… VARIANTS?!?

Oh boy.  Gyre-Viper took the world by storm last week when he broke the news about the Dollar Store exclusive figures with a great vintage aesthetic.  Well, he’s about the blow the doors off again on JoeDeclassified.com.

Apparently these Dollar Store exclusive figures won’t just be appearing in one paint scheme…  check out this amazing new gallery below of fully repainted variant figures for the exclusive line!  We’ve got what almost looks like a T’Ginzu repaint Storm Shadow, a dark gray Duke, black Cobra Commander, comic deco Cobra Troopers, a green Shipwreck, and a pseudo Heavy Artillery Snake Eyes (from an old school Toys “R” Us Exclusive set).

Mind.  Blown.

And hey…look at those last few pictures.  Looks like ole Gyre-Viper has something else in the wings for us.  And if it’s in that stage of completion, I’d say release is almost guaranteed.

Ohhhhh yeeeeeeaah.

It’s official.  This is the week of G.I. Joe.
