In fact, they’re changing the game so much, having “Gun Runners” in their name no longer feels like it captures what they’re currently doing.
For over 10 years now, the “Gun Running” experts over at Marauder have been supplying brand new sculpted and tooled weapons for your favorite 1:18 scale gaming figures, action figures, and others… along with those weapons they’ve been building battle stands, and also distributing accessories of many different types. But for the first time in their existence, Marauder is doing something totally new and different.
Introducing, the Marauder “Task Force”.
Yes, you heard me. Marauder is doing FIGURES. Fully modifiable, customizable, and designed by your friends and mine, Boss Fight Studio, Marauder is completely redefining the modern military figure game, and as one might expect, they need our support to do it!
Somehow they managed to sneak this under the radar, but launched today was a Kickstarter for this new Marauder Task Force, which is sure to be a huge hit with G.I. Joe fans and toy fans everywhere. I WILL NOT REST UNTIL THIS IS FUNDED.
Take a look for yourself, and somehow I suspect I won’t need to encourage G.I. Joe fans to do this. It speaks for itself.
Now let’s fund this bad boy!

Yeah, it looks like a masterpiece. I’m actually pretty stunned at how accurately they are allowed to portray some of these Sunbow items… we have full blown Rattlers, Skystrikers, HISS Tanks, and even Snake Eyes cruising on a RAM motorcycle! This is craziness, but only in the best possible way.

As a collective, Marvel G.I. Joe fans have been hotly anticipating this huge release for quite a while now, and finally that day has arrived! Larry Hama and SL Gallant have teamed up to bring G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #200 to Joe fans everywhere, and it also marks Gallant as the longest running artist in the book’s history! That seems unbelievable, but it’s true.
Personally, I couldn’t be happier. Gallant has a great artistic style, and is able to infuse character and dramatic action, while also being very faithful in the representation of realistic elements like weapons and vehicles. It’s a critical mixture of skills that not many artists can capture. Gallant does it perfectly. I couldn’t be more pleased that he now has this landmark to his name, and I am greatly looking forward to his continuing run on this great book.

To whet our appetites for the G.I. Jeff animated Community episode, they’ve released a teaser featuring one of the infamous PSA’s!
I will step up and fully admit I’ve never watched a single episode of Community, so I’m sure there are some inside jokes going on here, but even without that background, this looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
Check out the teaser below.

Those of us who were lucky enough to score a ticket to the official custom class for the 2014 G.I. Joe convention have been eagerly anticipating word of what the custom figure might be and what parts we should bring.
Well the G.I. Joe Convention Facebook page broke the news yesterday, and I gotta tell you, I’m pretty excited.
The custom character is slated to be “Chef” and at the show will be cast heads for 30th Anniversary Lifeline, a modified Firefly torso, and a plethora of 3D printed accessories, including some “Honey-Do House Bat” weapon attachments. Pretty cool.
To give folks an idea of what the recipe might look like, check out the images below, and then click the “Read More” link to get the entire run down of this year’s custom class.
Keep following GIJoeCon on Facebook as well for more details!

Also, check out the great concept art for Chef’s Apron, which may give some indication of what we can expect for 3D printed parts at the con, courtesy of Gyre Viper on the G.I. Joe Discussion Facebook Page:

If you’re a G.I. Joe fan on Facebook, but are not a member of the G.I. Joe Discussion Facebook group, you are really missing out on some great insight.
Some really fun conversations can be had there, but aside from that, we also get some really great perspective about toy making in general.
Today Gary “Gyre Viper” Head posted a fantastic conversation with a former Hasbro employee who gave him a terrific run down of how certain elements of toy production are performed, and even went through a rough timeline from concept to tooling and production. These are some great insights into that magical world of toy building that have been somewhat lost in the ether of corporate oversight and management. This is where the magic happened, and if you’re a toy fan, you owe yourself to check this stuff out.
Hit up this thread on the G.I. Joe Discussion Facebook group to see some great detail on the making of a vehicle from the Real American Hero line. You’ll feel better for it after wards!

by generalsjoes | Mar 25, 2014 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe 3
Okay, now things are getting a little weird.
A few days ago the word spread throughout a Twitter conversation that G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M Chu, who was recently tapped to direct a live action Jem and the Holograms film, was going to do that film first, and push the third G.I. Joe film back. This news threw G.I. Joe fans for a loop, as news like that does, and suddenly people were certain that the third Joe film was never ever going to happen.
I tried to take a bit more measured approach.
Now, though, on a promotional tour for Hercules, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been asked about the third G.I. Joe film, and through a series of pretty odd questions and answers seems to say they’re waiting for Chu while at the same time still keeping options open for a new director:
Question: Have you guys talked about when another G.I. Joe might happen, because I know Jon Chu’s doing some other things now.
Johnson: Yeah, yeah. Well, the idea is that we would start shooting G.I. Joe in January, in the first quarter of next year. That’s the idea. Look, I love Jon, and I think he did a great job. I get it. He had to go on and do something else. By the way, maybe…
Question: He could still be done by then.
Johnson: Could be, right?
And then later…
Question: So do you guys have a G.I. Joe 3 director yet? Are you still looking?
Johnson: We’re still looking, yeah.
Yeah, I don’t particularly get it either. The interview happened with IGN.com, and the quotes from Johnson are pretty clear, especially at the end, but the interview itself seems oddly structured.
Anyway, hopefully more news on this as it comes about. I think it’s quite possible that with Chu taking the helm on Jem that perhaps a new director is being sought for the third Joe film, but I also suspect that Chu could still be done with Jem and end up back in the driver’s seat. Whatever happens, I suppose it wouldn’t be a G.I. Joe film without some measure of drama to it, right?
Stay tuned!
