So far I haven’t been willing to give this the shot it probably deserves. I’m not real big on the “camp” nature of Batman or the Golden Age of super hero comics, I much prefer my world gritty and serious…does that make me a bad comic fan? 😉
Just in case anyone was curious…I know I supplied my own review for this first issue of G.I. Joe, but in case folks want other opinions, here are some reviews that you may not have seen scattered around the web:
I know there are tons of others out there, but these were some of the more obscure ones that I thought people might not know about. So far getting pretty decent reviews…
Clone Wars Wave 4 and Legacy Wave 5 have shipped from Hasbro and will be arriving soon at Brian’s Toys! New this week, we have added tons of AFA items including new AFA-Blue Labeled and loose vintage figures. Check out new pre-orders such as the Ultimate Quarter Scale Anakin and Luke Skywalker. Go to www.brianstoys.com for all the greatest Star Wars, GI Joe, and Transformers toys on the Internet!
Battlestar Galactica captured my attention when it first started and hasn’t really let go since. I faltered a bit during Season 3, but this lead up to Season 4 has re-ignited my love of this series, and I’m getting antsy waiting for 10:00pm tonight!
Long time Joefan “Smokescreen” has fired up a new player in the website/forum game, One-18TH.com. He is attempting to tackle the entire 1:18 scale from Star Wars to Captain Power, G.I. Joe, and the upcoming Fury Files Marvel toys. The forum is already pretty active, and the interface is cool as well. Give it a whirl, lots of Joefans there already!
I know a lot of folks know that there’s a lot of G.I. Joe info in the latest Toy Fair, but being as Resolute is where my main love affair is these days, I figured I’d post something collecting as much of that info as possible. This is all gleaned from a few different articles and interviews in the magazine. If you like the information here, support ToyFare by buying it! 😉
A picture shows Duke, Snake Eyes, Stalker and Spirit, Spirit being a character we had not previously known about
There will be plenty of surprise characters showing up, but also some “twists” on familiar characters.
As we know, 60 minutes broken into 5 minute chunks with a 10 minute finale. Scheduling is still being worked out, release should “certainly be sometime in the spring of 2009”.
Michael Verrechia reports that a way to add drama is to “lose characters”, but they need to find the right way to do it, “doing it in a way that made sense and not just for shock value”.
Most of the other information in the article is stuff we know already, but it’s always cool to see some added information from Hasbro. There are quite a few words about the movie, and it sounds like this film is going to be full of serious “over the top” action, which can be good or bad. Time will tell, I’ll wait for some footage before making a judgement on that.
