Thanks to the guys over at The Terror Drome for pointing out that Royal Purple has a video commercial posted, and in this new commercial, there’s some great additional footage of the Night Raven flying through the sky and shooting down what looks to be a nanotech missile. It’s only a few seconds, but it’s a pretty cool few seconds.
Seenit.co.uk has posted a neat little online training game at their site here, and when I checked it out, it kind of led me down the rabbit hole a little bit, and I got a chance to check out the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA international sites…turns out there’s some stuff I didn’t see on the US-based site (maybe I just missed it?) Check the links below for some neat games and other things:
Big thanks to SNAKE EYES from HissTank.com for letting us know that a new TV Spot has been uploaded to YouTube via TheMovieBox.net. There’s actually a decent amount of new footage in this one, too, showing some more straight-up military stuff here and there. Also gotta love the shot of the Howler taking off from an Aircraft Carrier… hmmm…
The strange licensing deals continue as G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA now teams up with… Plantronics for a new Sweepstakes Offer. Full details can be found on Plantronics.com!
I’ll warn you right up front… the Rise of COBRA reviews are going to be pretty frenetic as I kind of scoop up figures here and there, but for better or worse, the first five figure reviews are uploaded now! Check out the brand spanking new Rise of COBRA Reviews Page with links to all of the reviews I’ve posted so far:
Overall, I’m quite impressed. There are plenty of kinks to still work out, but by and large, these figures have retained the increased mobility and articulation of the Anniversary figures, but are infinitely more “playable”, the feel more durable, and more interactive. All the benefits of the Anniversary styling, with a fraction of the drawbacks from a “toy” perspective. Yeah…I’m definitely impressed.
I think once Hasbro kinds of burns through the typical Reactive Armor look and the various shades of blacks and grays, the design aesthetic could get VERY cool, and I think the best is still to come. I’ll be looking forward to it, and I’ll be looking forward to doing the reviews for it.
Renowned toy reviewer Michael Crawford has posted a review of the recently released Rise of COBRA Shipwreck figure, and he loves what he sees. It averages at least three stars (out of four) in most categories, and even hits four stars in some spots. He’s got some pretty neat images to go along with it. Check out the review here.
Along with the three images I revealed Saturday, half a dozen more have come to light courtesy of AceShowBiz. Curious also how one of their images is simply a cropped version of one I showed before, with Scarlett removed…not sure what’s up with that.
Regardless, check out their story here, and the images are mirrored below.
The sale going on next week at Toys “R” Us has been fairly widely reported, but we get word again from Master Chief (via HelaViper on the Coil Club) that there is a current sale going on this week as well! The sale items are as follows:
BRAVO vehicles=$19.99
Action Battlers=$9.99
12″ figures= $11.99
costumes= -$5 off (sorry forgot the price)
So if you’re looking for any above items, jump on it! Next week the figures go for crazy prices (2 for $9.99)! Check out those details in a previous article here.
tkprime from the MS Gulf Coast Collectors’ Club has come through with a neat link on HissTank to MoviePoster.com, and in that link we get a cool glimpse of some Rise of COBRA themed posters, including one done up by famed comic book artist J Scott Campbell! There are also a couple of other live action style posters that we haven’t seen yet. Check out the link here, and check out the mirrored images below.
When I first saw the COBRA Gunship in person at the Toy Fair in New York, I couldn’t have been less impressed. It looked basically like a silver slab of metal that just gets tossed through the air with no real means of propulsion or maneuvering. Well, none of that has changed, yet somehow, I’ve altered my feelings on the Gunship from “meh” to “gotta have it right now, dammit when is my BBTS order gonna get here, I’m dying over here!!!”
I’m not sure exactly why that is, whether it was Duck’s review over on JBL, or that it’s getting so much action in the trailers and TV spots. I’m easily swayed like that. :shifty:
At any rate, I’m really looking forward to getting the goofy thing in my hands right now, but Alexx’s pictures ease that pain just a little. Check out the thread here, and the images below.
