GeneralsJoes commenter Nas made the trip to San Diego and was nice enough to bring some little tidbits back with him to share on the site!
First of all, he had a chance to talk with Mike Costa, writer of the amazing G.I. Joe: Cobra series, and here are some cool little bits of info he had to share.
Another very cool little part of the SDCC experience was that Nas had a chance, with his son, to become official employees of Cobra Industries! As an added bonus, they get their own name badges… this is BAD ASS. I NEED one of these for myself! Awesome. Check out the images below.

Hey everyone, Gary here with a rare post. Which I am sure will be a hot topic of discussion for today and into the short term future (most Joe fans have short attention spans), dozens and dozens of the online Joe fandom who camped out HTS found that Slaughter is a hot commodity – the HARD way. At approximately 11:30a EST, the good sarge popped up on HTS and went from IN STOCK to OUT OF STOCK about as quick as it took you to read this sentence. While other Hasbro SDCC items flux between the two states, Sarge’s status has remained unchanged since. Yes, there are no Sarges today…

Kicking off the weeklong G.I. Joe: Review Battle Royal are two masked men from the G.I. Joe and Cobra ranks! From the G.I. Joe squad, we have the wannbe drill instructor and Army Ranger, Beachhead! And from Cobra, the infamous Cobra Saboteur, Firefly.
Both of these reviews can also be found linked on the brand spankin’ new G.I. Joe: Resolute Review Page!
Getting these reviews done in the midst of my month-long review fest and SDCC coverage has been a challenge, but it’s been a labor of love so far. I *heart* the G.I. Joe: Resolute figures.

JoeDios administrator Hammerfel has posted an update on his site with some more words of wisdom from G.I. Joe uber-designer John Warden, whom he had a chance to talk with at SDCC this past weekend. The conversation centers mostly on the Pursuit of Cobra HISS v.5 with some great insight from one of the guys who was behind it’s design!
One of the more interesting snippets is the following:
“One of the things he asked me to pass on to the Joe Community is that he has been watching the reaction to the color of the current HISS tank and wanted to assure us all that future releases of that mold will come in classic BLACK(and I would guess other colors as well). He was eager to get the word out, so spread it far and wide!”

With the Canadian JoeCon coming up shortly, the exclusive figures are finally getting revealed! The first figure shown in this year’s set is Cobra Sky-Tech Trooper, “Snake Byte”!
A fantastic combination of parts, this character is an integral part of the Canadian JoeCon universe, who’s background will be fully explored in the exclusive comic book. He’s a great looking figure that blends very well with other Canadian Cobra figures that we’ve gotten so far.
Check out this thread on JoeCanuck.com, and for all of the information regarding Canadian JoeCon 2010, hit up the website as well.

I originally typed up these reviews to be shown in the JoeCanuck newsletter, and they were from January – April of 2010. However, as the SDCC wraps up, and as the 2010 Canadian JoeCon is literally right around the corner, it seemed totally appropriate to reproduce this review on the site for my GeneralsJoes Review-A-Rama.
Originally the review was broken down into four separate issues, so if it seems a little disjointed, that’s why.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the 2010 Canadian JoeCon as much as I am… you can find all the information you need right here, and if the 2009 set is any indication, I think we’re in for some very cool convention exclusives this year!

So, for Joefans, SDCC is already mostly done. Renegades info flooded in on Thursday, we got IDW stuff yesterday. Sideshow is doing their thing tomorrow, but by and large, we’re ready to move on.
However, the rest of the comic world is still trucking right along, and while I don’t read a whole lot of comics these days, I still really love the concept of super heroes and I try to catch as much of that stuff as possible in other media. And holy crap does DC Comics have that covered with two awesome looking events coming up.
First of all, the new animated series Young Justice. Not being a comic fan, I don’t know who the hell Young Justice is, other than apparently the Teen Titans, only no longer called the Teen Titans. Didn’t we have a Teen Titans cartoon a few years ago? Now they want another one? Well, once I saw this video feature, I want another one, too. This looks like a whole lot of fun, and I love how connected the Justice League is! Check the video out below.
But of course the really “holy shit” moment so far of SDCC to me, is the cinematic teaser for the DC Universe Online MMORPG (or however the hell that acronym goes). Now, not only am I not really a DC fan, but I pretty much can’t stand MMORPG’s so there’s no way in hell I’ll ever play this, but this cinematic teaser makes me regret not having 20 spare hours a week to devote to a video game. It is… stunning. Absolutely stunning.
Is that some crazy stuff or what? Great googly moogly. I love SDCC.
Well, I’m gonna miss the deadline today. But only because I’m preparing to barrage you guys starting Monday… I didn’t quite have time to get together a review for today, though I still fully intend to post one tomorrow.
However, the real fun starts Monday. Beginning Monday, I’ll be starting the G.I. Joe: Resolute “Battle Royal” where I post reviews of two opposing members of the Resolute boxed sets, all week long until all fourteen figures have been reviewed by next weekend.
If I’m feeling motivated, I may even sprinkle some other catch up reviews in there, too, as I was in the midst of preparing all of those when the Resolute boxed sets ended up shipping early. So, while you guys will have to do without a review today, I think next week will make up for it.
Question is, when do I catch up on my sleep…
In my infinite genius, I committed to a review a day leading up to the release of The Pursuit of Cobra…and of course you know once that hits, I’ll be reviewing THAT, too. So, yeah…probably should have rethought that whole strategy. 😉
