Scratch Sienna Miller off the Rise of Cobra Sequel cast list

I think many of us suspected that Sienna Miller might not return in the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but even if we weren’t certain about that, an interview with Britain’s “Time Out” magazine pretty much confirms it outright.  As reported by IMDB, Miller feels as if she “compromised values” in her role as The Baroness in the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra film.
The actress says “I’m not very good at fighting. And I’m not very good at guns. And I’m not particularly aggressive. I had to wear sunglasses because every time I shot my gun I would blink. I was completely out of place, like this little midget running round in black leather winning fights, which was just absurd. They did a wondrous job with my wardrobe to make me look threatening…”
From the sounds of it, she wasn’t really invested in the initial film, and certainly doesn’t seem to be interested in returning to the Hollywood Blockbuster realm.  She continues on with “…G.I. Joe (was) a great pay cheque. If, financially, I’m okay – which luckily I am – there’s no point in doing stuff that’s not right for me. It’s too much time away from home.”
So yeah.  I’d say her days in black leather are done.  Well, at least in the G.I. Joe franchise. :shifty:
I have no problem with this.  Granted, I think she was actually very good in her role and I was pleasantly surprised, however I hated the way The Baroness was written into the first film as Duke’s fiancee and Cobra Commander’s sister, so I think if they are going to separate from Sienna Miller, chances are all the better that we might get a more “proper” Baroness this time around, if she appears at all.
Big thanks to GeneralsJoes reader m6d for the intel.  Once again, check out the entire article on IMDB right here.

G.I. Joe: Renegades April airdates and episode titles confirmed

Well, as much as can be expected, anyway.  I will admit, though, the episode shuffling has been very minor, and the online resources seem to be mostly correct when it comes to the episode lineup, so I’m considering this relatively official.
MSN TV has just posted a run of April listings for G.I. Joe: Renegades, and this is what we’ve got:

  • Shipwrecked – April 15
  • Castle Destro – April 22
  • Union of the Snake – April 29

Some very intriguing episode titles, I must say.  A pretty obvious guest star for the 15th, and I love the sounds of diving deeper into Destro’s back story.  Some real potential.  In fact, over the next run of 6 episodes, it sounds like things could really be picking up!  Storm Shadow, Shadow-Vipers, Zartan’s return, the Crimson Twins, Snow Job, Shipwreck, and more Destro details?  Sign me up!  I know I’m ready for G.I. Joe: Renegades to come back.  Who’s with me?

Curse you, ROSS STORES!!

Well, they’re at it again.  Ross, the bane of my collectors’ existence has once again scored a coup, this time with the previously released only in Canada Wave 3 of the Rise of Cobra Alpha vehicles.  This wave contains the Polar Shark Sub w/ Ice Storm, the Desert Rockslide w/ Dusty, the Tiger Claw ATV w/ Leatherneck, and the Lavapod w/ Volcano Viper.
Now, I’ve been able to get these, so really, I’m not feeling too wounded, but every time I hear about Ross getting these cool tail enders, I just get reminded how the nearest store is like 350 miles away.  The vehicles are retailing for about $8.99 apiece, just to twist that knife a bit deeper.
Thanks to GeneralsJoes regular Nas for the info, with confirmation pics at HissTank.com.  If you have a Ross near you, GO GET ‘EM.

Updated press images from upcoming Wave 3 Pursuit of Cobra

Well, it looks like things have changed a little bit since Toy Fair, and mostly for the better.  Site sponsors Big Bad Toy Store and Past Generation Toys have posted some new press images for the upcoming 3rd wave of 2011 Pursuit of Cobra figures, and there is a very interesting alteration:

While most of the subtle coloring differences are mostly a result of Photoshop, one look at Cobra Commander tells us that his legs are being reused from the previous version instead of the classic Cobra Commander look.  I think it’s a big improvement.  It will be interesting to see what the final result looks like.
Thanks to The Terror Drome for the info.

Big news day from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club

Being on the road for most of the day, I didn’t really get a chance to talk about the two big news stories that the Collectors’ Club dropped today in regards to the upcoming G.I. Joe convention at the end of the month.
Big story #1 – Voice actress Morgan Lofting, better known as The Baroness will be appearing in Orlando as a guest of the Collectors’ Club!  Very cool.  By far one of the most distinctive voices in the original Sunbow cartoon, this is a great coup by the GIJCC and she should make for some very interesting discussion.

Big story #2 – Rare toy alert!  Apparently the Collectors’ Club incentive figure for 2011 will give fans an even bigger incentive to attend the Convention.  A very limited run of 600 Dial Tone figures will be available at JoeCon MINT ON CARD.  Normally sold in a sealed baggie as part of the Club’s promotion, some select figures will be carded and for sale at JoeCon.  Attendees will also have the chance to get these signed by Dial Tone’s voice actor Hank Garrett.

Two very cool bits of news.  If you want to read the full press releases, click the “Read the Rest of this Entry” link below.

Who are the Shadow-Vipers? Find out March 25th on G.I. Joe: Renegades!

So, G.I. Joe: Renegades returns with new episodes next Friday, March 11th, but the episode shuffle has pushed “Whiteout” back to March 25th.  To this point we hadn’t heard any episode details, but now TVGuide.com sheds some light on the subject:

“The prototype Shadow-Vipers and Storm Shadow follow the Joes to Canada, where they are hiding out with Snow Job.”

So Shadow-Vipers, Snow Job, and the return of Storm Shadow?  Whiteout was initially an episode I wasn’t all that excited to check out, but suffice it to say, that’s changed now!  Thanks to The Terror Drome for the information.

Sideshow Collectibles' Cobra Viper armament revealed!

Well, we’ve seen the pictures already, but now Sideshow Collectibles has really given an in depth look at the weapon that the upcoming Cobra Viper comes equipped with!  The Magpul Masada is apparently the weapon of choice of Cobra’s “Tip of the Spear”.
An absolutely awesome look at the high tech weaponry.  Check it out right here, or view the mirrored images below.  I gotta be honest, these pics are making me want to buy a second one.  RESIST!
