Merchandising is a big thing when it comes to major motion pictures, and it looks like the push to 2013 hasn’t hurt the calendar makers. Amazon.com
has posted a pre-order and preview gallery of a 2013 wall calendar from the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film. Best thing about it, is that it debuts some previously unseen characters like Clutch, Mouse, and… “Special Ops”?
Equally interesting is the lack of other characters like Flint and Joe Colton, but there are three months not shown in the preview, so it’s likely that’s where you’ll see them.
Check out the item right here

by generalsjoes | Aug 2, 2012 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Collectors Club
An e-mail has gone out to all members of the G.I. Joe Collectors Club and Transformers Collectors Club advising us that as of tomorrow around noon Central Time, the online store will open and begin selling items. Footloose figures, loose, carded, and signed, are all on the docket, though the Club is strictly enforcing a one-per-customer limit. Even with that limit, don’t expect them to last long.
Check out the full context of the email below, and have your browsers ready tomorrow!
“This quick update is going out to all members of both clubs.
Both stores are closed until tomorrow at approximately noon CDT when we are planning to bring the G.I. Joe Club Store online. The Transformers Club Store will come back online at the same time.
For the Joe Club members:
Please note that there are LIMITS on the loose Footloose, carded Footloose and signed carded Footloose membership figures.
You are limited to ONE of each (per membership account) until we see how the demand goes. We can track exactly how many of each are ordered by account. If you place more than one order, we WILL CANCEL all of your orders and charge you a 25% administration fee. Please do not try this as we want as many members as possible to get these figures at the offering price. Quantities are limited.
In addition, we are still adding items to both stores, so it will take approximately another week to get all of our inventory back in the new stores.
Thanks to both groups for your patience and the two great conventions this year!
Brian”

Collectible shows are springing up all over the place, and this month on SyFy it would appear that another show is preparing to join their ranks. On August 14th “Collection Intervention” will be launching on the SyFy network!
The details and a trailer can be seen below.
SYFY PREMIERES COLLECTION INTERVENTION TUESDAY, AUGUST 14 AT 10PM ET/PT
NEW SERIES FOLLOWS THE MEMORABILIA-OBSESSED TRYING TO TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR OVERSIZED POP-CULTURE COLLECTIONS
NEW YORK – July 25, 2012 – In Syfy’s newest reality series, Collection Intervention, premiering Tuesday, August 14 at 10PM (ET/PT), former Head of Special Collections at Christie’s Elyse Luray helps couples, families and individuals whose pop-culture memorabilia collections – from Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica to Catwoman and Barbie – have become damaging obsessions, creating financial strife and a huge strain on their lives.
In each of the six hour-long episodes, Elyse will create a strategy that helps these collectors curate and showcase their collection by assessing where the true value lies and then allow them to decide what’s worth keeping and what they can sell. These massive collections include dining rooms stuffed with 30,000 comic books, a garage filled to the rafters with Catwoman memorabilia, and an almost uninhabitable house filled with Transformers. For each collector, parting with some of their collection may free up some much needed space in their home, provide a cash windfall to get out of debt, or even just allow a couple to become more focused on their relationship.
In the premiere episode titled “A Disturbance in the Force,” what started out as a single room dedicated to Star Warshas grown to take over the entire Concord, California home of Garet and Consetta. When Elyse quickly realizes the Star Wars collection has intense emotional meaning to Consetta, she fears that Consetta may not be able to part with a single item. If Elyse is going to help this couple take back their house, she’s going to have to use The Force to break through to them.
Also in the episode, disgruntled Los Angeles housewife Lolly calls Elyse to see if she can help her husband Mark let go of some of his extensive Catwoman collection so they can start to pay some bills. When Elyse sees the collection, which has overtaken their garage, she is stunned by the poor manner in which Mark has stored the collectibles he says he loves. Nonetheless, to save their relationship and pay down their debt, Elyse helps Mark identify what in his collection is truly important to him while pushing him to let go of what is not.
Collection Intervention is produced by High Noon Entertainment with executive producers Pam Healey, Jim Berger and Elizabeth Grizzle Voorhees.

And wow is it looking GOOD. Knowing the guys behind the Canadian JoeCon like I do, I’m sure they are absolutely giddy about having a guy like Atkins draw their hand-made characters, and deservedly so. A fantastic cover. LOVE Atkin’s Black Ice. The cover was colored by Simon Gough, and you can check it out at JoeCanuck.com.
The final cover can be seen below:

Now, not only do we get to see this fantastic cover, but as has become custom, Robert Atkins took to his terrific blog and gave us some fantastic in progress shots of creating this cover. Hit up the links below to check out Robert Atkins talking about creating this fantastic cover:
Soooo good.

The guys behind the scenes at the Canadian JoeCon have been working long and hard to get things ready for the 2012 Canadian JoeCon, but unfortunately some bad news to report today. Due to cost considerations the proposed second vehicle for the Convention Set has been dropped.
Price quotes came out way above expectations, and for that reason, the convention set this year will not include a second vehicle.
The full details are below, courtesy of JoeCanuck.com:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances outside our control, we will be unable to offer the 2nd smaller vehicle for our 2012 Convention set by the convention date. As a result, sets will now cost $175. Those that have pre-ordered a con set will be given a $5.00 refund at the convention upon pick up of your set, or a full refund of your purchase should you wish to cancel your pre-order. The 2nd vehicle was originally projected to cost $5.00 to produce, and was a last minute addition to the set with no increase to the cost. Final costs came back MUCH higher however, and we had to pull it. We will elaborate more on this during the Staff Q&A at the convention, however we can not go into the details of it at the current time.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
– CJC Staff”
While this is a bummer, the set looks pretty impressive as it stands.

Whether or not you’ve supported The Hero Project on Kickstarter, it’s pretty inarguable that their interaction with the public has provided some terrific enlightenment into the world of toy design and production. They came on What’s on Joe Mind and spoke about it, and have also provided numerous updates via their Kickstarter page and through emails.
The latest update is no exception, which has also been mirrored to their Tumblr where they talk about the thought processes and work gone into conceptualizing, designing, and hopefully manufacturing Rama, their first offering in the Hero Project.
Definitely check it out right here, you won’t regret it.
