Over the past several weeks, Newsarama has been doing a great interview series called “YO, JOE” and has featured many great IDW top talent, including Fred Van Lente, Mike Costa, Chuck Dixon, and now the godfather himself, Larry Hama. Larry’s work on IDW’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero title has been stellar over the past couple of years, and I love that Newsarama is doing a featured piece on it.
The interview itself is fantastic, too. As many of us know, Mr. Hama has a distinct opinion about his place in the grand scheme of comic publishing, and this interview perfectly captures that attitude. He even answers some questions simply by showing some great notes from recent issues of Real American Hero. It’s a great read, everyone should go check it out at Newsarama.com.
Well, Mobage and DeNA did it to us again last night and snuck in a new event right under our noses! It’s another PVP event, with some great potential rewards. See if you can score a Legendary Zartan (based off his awesome Pursuit of Cobra look) and work to win an Epic Nunchuk!
Along with these two, there are new soldiers to recruit as well, including Jinx and Cobra B.A.T.!
Last, but not least, for December, a brand new Invitation bonus in the form of the Cobra Ninja Slice. Check out screen caps for all of these new cards below.
The road to issue #200 continues as Larry Hama and SL Gallant keep pumping out some great looking books continuing the Marvel era. The 197th issue of this landmark series hits comic shops tomorrow and you can check out the preview below.

With the information yesterday that the 2013 G.I. Joe Convention will feature a paradrop with a Kre-O KreOn figure, and not a traditional G.I. Joe figure, some folks figured that meant there would be a convention exclusive Kre-On figure used.

“G.I. JOE is a book that’s close to my heart,” said Trimpe. “It’s great to see how IDW’s handled the title. Their run’s been excellent, and when they decided to launch this limited line collecting the early work that we all worked so hard on, I was thrilled to be chosen to provide art for this special edition. G.I. JOE is a timeless tradition, and drawing these pieces took me back to a different time, when I was a fan and artist who loved these characters deeply.”

Over the past 40 days we’ve all been thoroughly enjoying Twitziller’s “40 Reasons why G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be great”… well, G.I. Joe: Retaliation has finally opened in theaters across the world, and now Twitziller is offering GeneralsJoes readers a full sized “40 Reasons” Poster!
This massive compilation is being hosted on GeneralsJoes for free download. You can “right-click” and “save as” right here, or the smaller image below. It’s an awesome image to see all collected together.
So, the cool guys at the Cold Slither Podcast Tweeted out a link to one of my old articles covering the history of Roadblock for folks who needed to bone up on their G.I. Joe history before catching G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
That kicked a reminder at me that maybe I should get that post back up on top since G.I. Joe: Retaliation has officially opened and there might be people wondering just who this Roadblock dude is. You can see the original post right here, but I’ve also reposted it at the Read the Rest of the Story link below.
A short while ago, a few of us on the What’s on Joe Mind podcast were fortunate enough to get Dave Tree on our show. Dave had the distinction of being able to get to a screening of G.I. Joe: Retaliation nearly two weeks before official release, and was right on the show with a terrific report about the film.
Unfortunately, the information was embargoed, so the Podcast couldn’t launch until March 27th. The special edition went live on that day thanks to the heroic efforts of Gary, but with my work and web schedule I hadn’t had a chance to post an update about it until now. This was a fantastic special edition with Dave breaking down the film piece-by-piece.
BEWARE – HEAVY SPOILERS ARE IN THIS PODCAST
Dave literally goes through the entire film and talks about events in the movie. So for folks who don’t want spoilers, you’re gonna want to avoid this one. Still some terrific insight. Check it out on Podbean, or the embedded players below.
We’re not kidding. If you listen to this and you don’t like spoilers BEFORE you see the movie, then its YOUR fault. We recorded this a few weeks ago just hours after our man in the UK, Dave Tree, got to see an advance preview of GI Joe Retaliation. While the details were fresh in his mind, he joined Justin and Gary to give his full, no holds barred report of the film. You patiently waited THREE years since Rise of Cobra AND on top of that, ANOTHER NINE MONTH delay so they can convert it to 3D. Now it is OUR time and OUR turn. Is everything better in 3D? Find out next, in this monumental and landmark special edition of WOJM! Oh, and thanks to Jon Chu for the intro!
