Rise of COBRA Wave 1 Scarlett gallery posted at HissTank

Destro over at HissTank continues to make up for lost time as he posts an extensive gallery of the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA Scarlett figure from Wave 1.

Decked out in a fairly standard looking camouflage uniform, this would appear to be a version of the G.I. Joe intelligence operative that isn’t seeing field combat, and instead is behind a desk or on base.  Honestly, this is probably my least favorite figure that I’ve seen so far.  While many fans are lambasting the “battle suit” look and begging for a more standard military appearence I find myself really liking the combat suits, and the stuff in standard military fatigues is fairly tiresome.  From a sculpting standpoint the figure itself seems to look fine, but when I drop the cash on Scarlett, I want the one in full “battle rattle“.

Gotta love that spring-loaded mega-crossbow!  Beautiful in its cheeziness!

G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA Viper Commando images on HissTank.com

Destro from HissTank returns from a self-imposed vacation with a great gallery of the upcoming Wave 1 COBRA Viper Commando figure.

Checkout the gallery here.  Thanks to Destro at HissTank for the heads up.

Like the COBRA Neo-Viper, this is another figure that I really like.  It’s pretty cool how the Neo-Viper is sort of a “beefed up” version of this more standard Viper Commando, with some similar elements, yet bulkier armor, and more advanced weaponry.  I think I like the Neo-Viper more than the regular Viper Commando, but there are some things about this figure that I like as well.

Some “mainstream” mention of G.I. Joe on Sports Talk Radio

Intrepid G.I. Joe fan and “investigator” Jeff Bohn has stumbled upon some interesting G.I. Joe conversation (with tongue firmly in cheek) on the “Petros and Money show”, which is part of the Fox Sports Radio Network broadcast from KLAC in Los Angeles.  Thankfully, KLAC archives many of their shows in .mp3 format, so I had a chance to archive this particular webcast so folks can check it out.  Featured in this clip is a “Film Fight” between Transformers: The Move and G.I. Joe: The Revenge of COBRA.  Kind of cool…

If the MP3 Player isn’t working, listen directly here.

Maybe you’ll say it’s a slow news day, I dunno…

Comic Pack “Shockblast vs. Pilot Destro” Reviewed

With the early years of G.I. Joe getting some serious credit with the Anniversary figures, it was only a matter of time before Hasbro started dipping into the late 80’s to find some good subject matter, and personally, I can’t think of a better subject than Shockwave.  One of my long time favorites, Shockwave is a great character and a great figure, and definitely deserves to get some recognition.  It was pretty obvious once the Comic Pack Firefly hit retail that Shockwave was at least on the radar, and by the looks of things, he just barely squeaked in, as it would seem the Anniversary line has petered out for the year.
