Official press images for SDCC Exclusive Shockwave HISS and Jinx

Hasbro PR has made available the press images for upcoming San Diego ComicCon Exclusive “Shockwave” HISS Tank w/ Destro and Constructicon B.A.T. as well as Kim “Jinx” Arashikage in both her regular red uniform and in the variant white uniform.  Along with the press images, we get our first official looks at the box art for Shockwave and the card art for both Jinx figures.

Of note, according to GeneralsJoes Twitter friend Twitziller, the Jinx card art may represent the first time a 25th homage figure was released with “digital” explosion background.  Someone feel free to correct us if we’re wrong, but I can’t seem to remember another figure using that.

Check out the official images below, and if you want to see what I thought of the upcoming SDCC Jinx figures check out the main release review right here and the white uniform variant right here.

Shout Factory salvages 2012 – G.I. Joe: Renegades gets full season Blu-Ray!

What’s the saying?  It’s always darkest before the dawn?  Well, just as all hope was lost with the G.I. Joe: Retaliation push back, Shout! Factory has single-handedly redeemed 2012 for G.I. Joe media, as an Amazon.com pre-order reveals a G.I. Joe: Renegades Complete Season One on BLU-RAY!

For many of us, this will be the first time ever seeing G.I. Joe: Renegades in high definition, and to say I’m excited for this release would be a massive understatement.

For folks who are into the regular DVD format, Amazon has also revealed a Season 1, Volume 2 set as well, to finish off the collection that was released just this week.  Both sets are slated for release September 25, 2012.

I was made aware of this by no less than 15 or 20 of my awesome GeneralsJoes faithful today, but first mention came from Twitziller, so full credit to him for making my day!

Thank you very much, Shout! for giving Joe fans something to look forward to this year!

Lots of G.I. Joe awesomeness at Robert Atkins’ blog

If you’re like me and you visit IDW’s Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow artist Robert Atkins on a regular basis, you no doubt noticed that he’s been a flurry of activity this week!  He had some very interesting commission requests, and he’s been posting up pieces of his work over the past several days.

Well over the past couple of days he posted the completed images and they’re pretty incredible.  A very eclectic group of characters and some great art by Mr. Atkins as well.    This combined commission piece is over FOUR FEET wide.  Colorist on the Snake Eyes title Simon Gough as even colored the G.I. Joe half already, and I’ve mirrored both images below.

Along with this, Robert has posted a fantastic commission of Snake Eyes in his Commando uniform!  Everyone’s pretty used to seeing the Joe ninja in his visor and skin-tight spandex these days, this is a great departure.  Check out that image below.

If you’re not hitting up Robert Atkins’ blog on a regular basis, you really should be.  He’s been doing a lot of great Avengers work alongside his G.I. Joe stuff, and with him picking back up on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow last week, you can bet more G.I. Joe content will be coming.

Check it out!

Also for folks wanting to see Robert in person, he will be attending the following conventions!  Put ’em on your calendar:

More on set images from G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Courtesy of set photographer Jaimie Trueblood, we have some more images from G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and some really nice ones here.  Featuring heavy doses of Roadblock with Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, and an incredible shot of Cobra Commander.

Check out the photographer’s site right here, and thanks to Kenny2274 on Twitter and TheGabrielAngel at HISSTank.com for the info.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #179

Ugh, I’ve been lagging again.  With the furious onslaught of G.I. Joe: Retaliation news and so much other stuff happening in my personal life and the fandom, I’ve just lost step a bit with my IDW reviews, but I’m going to endeavor to get back up to speed if at all possible.

Hopefully no one thinks a lack of reviews is any indication of my enjoyment of what IDW is doing, because it is not.  I’m still thoroughly enjoying the roller coaster ride of the Real American Hero title especially, though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little bit happy to see this Blue Ninja saga coming to an end.
