No scattered reviews this time around…we’re diving right into the whole assortment!
My G.I. Joe: Pursuit of Cobra Wave 4 figures arrived very late Friday evening, and I spent several hours this past weekend diving right into reviews. I know I’ve been accused of hyperbole in the past, but I will say without hesitation that these four figures are among the coolest figures in the entire run of the Pursuit of Cobra line, and with a toyline like this one, that is really saying something.
These figures are awesome. Simply awesome. Check out the Pursuit of Cobra Review Page or hit the links below directly:
- Destro (City Strike)
- Low Light (City Strike)
- Shadow Tracker (Jungle Assault)
- Skydive (Jungle Assault)
These are four excellent figures. It really makes me look forward to seeing what Hasbro has up their sleeves for 2011. Based on how much they’ve improved over the past 12 months, I can only imagine what greatness we have in store for us over the next 12.
i dont give crap one about the backlash i get from this comment……….what the HELL happened in lowlight’s production? those eyes are the most offensive paint F-up i think ive ever seen.
he looks like thomas jane too.
I have to say, if Destro is going out with that kind of weapon and armor, he’d best protect the head and groin a bit better. I might just re-badge a squad of these figures to become SAW Vipers with a head-change.
Lowlight’s arms are actually the same as Jungle Viper’s, just with new wrist pads.
Hey Justin, Low Light’s arms are actually those of the Jungle-Viper, just with the handle/blade ball joint section on the lower arm removed.
Please, Justin, I´d like to see a pic of Low Light holding his sniper rifle wiht both hands…
On Hasbro official images, that was clear that he could do it, but I haven´t seem this position on your review…please, tell me that he isn´t like Snow Job…
I’m going to be doing that headswap for Skydive. Looks like an awesome figure, but that mask… yeesh. Just not looking good there.
A big thank you Justin. I’ve been feeling a little down about this wave as it wasn’t living up to what I originally thought it was gonna be. I now realize that this was just seeing lots of bad pictures with poor lighting.
I am floored, absoluetly floored at how awesome Low Light looks. The detail on this guy and his accessories surpasses anything I’ve ever seen in this entire toyline…ever. All those pics from every possible angle just makes it so much clearer.
Shadow Tracker finally looks cool again, all the weird pics I’d seen in the last few weeks made him look pretty blah. He looks kick ass again.
Even Skydive looks amazing. Using Mutts head is genius (wish Hasbro would of thought of that). Gives him a face, something all Joe figures should have (except maybe Snake Eyes). Beachhead appealed to me much more after they released the regular head with him in the comic 2-pack (25th).
Destro? Well, he’s gonna see some customizing to give me heavy weapon troopers. He looks awesome but I wish they would of given us troopers instead.
Anyway, thanks for all the pics and descriptions and the little stories, always cool.
I eagerly await my case of Wave 4 !
Great, great wave. Since the Skydive mold has been seen for months now I wasn’t looking forward to it too much. However, I did a quick headswap and he looks much better.
Once again, Justin, your pics put everyone else’s to shame. 🙂
All those pics and none with his goggles over his eyes? Do they fit?
Good lord, Lowlight actually has CHARACTER information on his card! That’s a huge step! It’s not just saying “he’s a Joe and he snipes.” Man, I hope they are changing that. Even Shadow Tracker says a bit more about him than usual (though I was hoping for some hints that people wonder what’s under the mask). Anyway, AMAZING wave all around. I can not wait to get my hands on these.
Low-Light is great! I like his gear and his ability to carry all of it. Also I agree that he retains a lot of his classic elements (a good thing). He is definitely my favorite of the wave. The rifle case reminds me of Bullhorn. Also I really like the expression on Low-Light’s face. Keep it up Hasbro! I am so excited to see what’s next!
I haven’t purchased the others. I might get Destro just for his suitcase of currency! I like Skydive but I would prefer his face over the balaclava. I am not sure how I feel about Shadow Tracker. He is cool looking but I would like to learn more of his back story.
Also above you said that these 4 are the best of PoC. Don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten the best Snake Eyes evah?
Hey Justin,
I was just thinking. Do you have Footloose from the Rise of Cobra TRU Desert 5-pack?
I think his head would also work well. (Mutt looks great but I think Footloose’s mustache and haircut look closer)
Good point Lockon, that Footloose head would be pretty spot on for the original Sky Dive.
I have the preproduction Ripcord/Skydive, but I don’t remember those handles on the boots. Weird…
low light looks absolutely incredible. i am stunned at that not only did big h included so many cool accessories but gave us a great figure that in my opinion far surpasses the original arah version.
I just got mine in today. Really liking Low Light & Shadow Tracker. Almost lost Low Light’s bullet while opening the package. That thing is gonna be a beast to keep track of.
@Monte: The preproduction ones I have all have the handles.
Just wanted to point out that the Uzi that comes with Low-light is an all-new sculpt. It is NOT a re-use of the Wave 3 Snake Eyes Uzi. Kind of impressive that Hasbro would call for all-new tooling on such a similar piece, and in a immediately-following wave no less!
