Desert Battle Ripcord as Desert Battle General Hawk…

A few weeks ago when I posted my review of the Pursuit of Cobra Ripcord, commentor neon-viper requested some images of Hawk all decked out in Ripcord’s battle gear…well, I’ve been shamelessly lax in getting pics taken, but here they are, by request.  I actually like this look a lot!  The colors are quite reminiscent of General Hawk’s color schemes from the good old days, too.  It’s a cool look.  Check it out below.

More Pursuit of Cobra Snow Job images online… holy shnikes!

Trust me, it takes a lot for me to bust out the Chris Farley terminology…  you know, I don’t even really like the Snow Job figure, except that I LOVE this Snow Job figure!  Holy crap!  I’m definitely not one for arctic themed guys, especially ones that are more or less repaints of the Arctic Snake Eyes, but damn…that new head sculpt, great paint apps, and absolutely INSANE gear have just sold me.  I mean, we’ve seen the gear before, but setting up that tent?  That is pure coolness.  That nasty sniper rifle certainly helps as well.

Yeah, it’s an arctic figure, and a character that doesn’t especially enthrall me, but the overall presentation is pure sickness.  Thanks to ceraurus of HissTank.com for just costing me more money.

IDW’s Operation: HISS Continues Rise of Cobra storyline

With the IDW Solicitations earlier this morning, I noticed that the cover for G.I. Joe: Operation HISS was distinctly movie-themed, and now we know why.  IDW has posted a press release about the upcoming Operation: HISS Limited Series, and how it continues the storyline from the blockbuster G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra film.

IDW releases story continuation of 2009 blockbuster movie

This February, IDW explores what follows the dramatic ending of this summer’s smash-hit movie, G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra. Under license by Hasbro, Inc., G.I. JOE: Operation H.I.S.S. focuses on two of the brand’s main characters, SCARLETT and SNAKE EYES, as they combat the latest plot of the evil and menacing COBRA organization.

The war against COBRA has only just begun as writer Brian Reed (G.I. JOE Special: Agent Helix) unveils the return of the wildly popular STORM SHADOW character and introduces a sinister new character, brought to life by the dynamic art team of Augustin Padilla and Alex Cal, from the popular G.I. JOE: Origins series.  G.I. JOE: Operation H.I.S.S., a five-part miniseries, draws readers into a world of danger that threatens to corrupt the heroic G.I. JOE team member, DUKE. Joe Corroney (Star Trek: Mirror Images) provides the variant covers to the hottest title yet to spin out of G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra.

The G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra publishing program has been one avenue of support for the film’s storyline-until now. With Operation H.I.S.S., we chart new territory and are adding to the strong mythology developed for the film,” said Andy Schmidt, IDW’s G.I. JOE editor. “This series is not about filling in holes and tying up loose ends, it’s about big, over-the-top action while emphasizing what makes these characters great.”

In this latest G.I. JOE adventure, DUKE goes undercover to infiltrate COBRA and encounters MAJOR  BLUDD, who makes his first appearance in IDW’s comics.

G.I. JOE: Operation H.I.S.S. #1 (of 5) ($3.99, 32 pages) debuts in February. Diamond order code: DEC09 0888

Elite-Viper w/ Flight Pod Target Exclusive images

Rulz over at HissTank.com has gotten a hold of another upcoming Rise of Cobra exclusive item, this time the Target Exclusive Cobra Flight Pod w/ Elite-Viper.  I know I’m in the minority here, but I’m really loving this paint scheme for the Elite-Viper.  Absolutely love the combination of black and red with the camouflage pants.  A very cool look…I may end up grabbing a couple of these.  It’s weird…the first two waves of Target Exclusive items were fairly “bleh”, but this third wave looks very freaking cool.  Love this set.
