What’s On Joe Mind Special Edition #27 – Retaliation Recap!

Good morning, G.I. Joe fans!

A short while ago, a few of us on the What’s on Joe Mind podcast were fortunate enough to get Dave Tree on our show.  Dave had the distinction of being able to get to a screening of G.I. Joe: Retaliation nearly two weeks before official release, and was right on the show with a terrific report about the film.

Unfortunately, the information was embargoed, so the Podcast couldn’t launch until March 27th.  The special edition went live on that day thanks to the heroic efforts of Gary, but with my work and web schedule I hadn’t had a chance to post an update about it until now.  This was a fantastic special edition with Dave breaking down the film piece-by-piece.

BEWARE – HEAVY SPOILERS ARE IN THIS PODCAST

Dave literally goes through the entire film and talks about events in the movie.  So for folks who don’t want spoilers, you’re gonna want to avoid this one.  Still some terrific insight.  Check it out on Podbean, or the embedded players below.

SHOW NOTES

First off…

SPOILER ALERT

We’re not kidding.  If you listen to this and you don’t like spoilers BEFORE you see the movie, then its YOUR fault.  We recorded this a few weeks ago just hours after our man in the UK, Dave Tree, got to see an advance preview of GI Joe Retaliation.  While the details were fresh in his mind, he joined Justin and Gary to give his full, no holds barred report of the film.  You patiently waited THREE years since Rise of Cobra AND on top of that, ANOTHER NINE MONTH delay so they can convert it to 3D.  Now it is OUR time and OUR turn.  Is everything better in 3D?  Find out next, in this monumental and landmark special edition of WOJM!  Oh, and thanks to Jon Chu for the intro!

HUGE thanks as always to Dave and Russ for their tireless work in covering these events for us!!

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 75 – Listener call in extravaganza!!

Well, we loved it so much we did it again!

In celebration of episode #52, we offered listeners a chance to call in and talk with us directly about their burning G.I. Joe issues, and the response was incredible.  We all had a blast doing it, so we figured to celebrate our diamond anniversary of episode #75 we’d do it again.  I think we’re all glad we did.  It was a raucus, “from the hip” whirlwind where we eschewed news and current events and just leaped into talking with YOU, our listeners.  Joined by good friend Erik Arana, who provides some great insight into our hobby and the toy industry in general.

Because there wasn’t much in the way of news or intel, the show notes are just below.  You can find the episode on Podbean, or via the embedded players below.

SHOW NOTES

It’s our second ever listener call in show!  We put the news, email, and Twitter on hold and take your calls and answer your questions!  Show friend, Erik Arana hangs out with us and gives us a unique perspective on our hobby.  If you don’t know who Erik is, you need to listen in!  Special appearances by WOJM contributors Eduardo M Freyre (with a lemon twist), Ryan Costello, Jr. WOJM Twitter laureate, Twitziller, Noted Author, James Kavanaugh, Jr. and Numbers from Ages 25 and Up.  It’s a festive, from the hip episode where the only thing that matters is taking your calls…and making fun of Chuck.   Enjoy!

What’s on Joe Mind celebrates Episode 74 with Lady Jaye herself!

All it took were a few words, and you could instantly recognize the voice from our youth.  Mary MacDonald-Lewis joined us for a fantastic action-packed interview, bringing some of her classy Sunbow Lady Jaye style to the show.  We talk about her experiences with the animated series, her real life relationship with Bill “Flint” Ratner, and whether or not she thinks Adrianne Palicki can fill her shoes.

Also joining us on this episode is Carson from the epic G.I. Joe site, 3DJoes!  He talks technology and what drew him to build his site and where he thinks it might go in the future.  Along with this we cover news, and get fired up about G.I. Joe: Retaliation!  Come join us on Podbean, or use the embedded players below.  As always click the “Read the Rest of the Story” link for the show notes.

What’s on Joe Mind needs YOU!

I’m happy to report that the What’s on Joe Mind podcast has now (more or less) resumed our weekly recording schedule!  Just in time, too, as next week we prepare for a landmark 75th regular episode.  We’re celebrating this event with another listener call-in show!  The last one we did was wildly successful, with a bunch of Joe fans calling in to gush and rant and rave and generally have a good time.

So if you like the show, if you want to interact with us, ask us a question, or just toss an insult at Chuck, here is how you do it:

First, you gotta have Skype. If you don’t have Skype, go tohttp://www.skype.com/

Second, we’d prefer you have some type of headset/microphone combo. Its not essential, but if we can’t hear ya, it will be hard to record ya.

Third, add chuckdawg1999 to your Skype contacts.

Fourth, join us on Skype MARCH 12th – at 9pm EASTERN. Contact Chuck to let him know you want on the show – and bring a good question or topic to talk about will ya, or Justin, Mike and Gary will resort to sports talk which will anger a bunch of people and you don’t want that.

Every 5th caller, gets a prize (and not some crummy figure you already have, but a GOOD prize)!

In the meantime, if you have any questions, hit us up here or add us on Twitter: @GeneralsJoes, @chuckdawg1999, @mikeirizarry1 and @garygodsoe

Amazingly cool G.I. Joe: Retaliation Stereoscopic 3D Poster images revealed

Over on HissTank.com the always reliable TheGabrielAngel has posted some very cool stereoscopic 3D posters from G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  These posters feature some new looks at Cobra Commander, Firefly, Roadblock, and Joe Colton.

The only hitch?  You need 3D glasses to get the effect, and without them… they look pretty funky.

Now, if you were at JoeCon and got one of the awesome What’s on Joe Mind “Things are always better in 3D” 3D glasses we were handing out for free… well you’re golden!  Otherwise, track some down, because these posters look pretty awesome.  BCYOJOE also scared up a tutorial on making your own.

The images are hosted below, thanks again to TheGabrielAngel for posting these up.
