Pursuit of COBRA info and images in latest GIJCC Newsletter

The latest G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club newsletter is hitting mailboxes, and reports are coming in that the first assortment of Pursuit of COBRA figures is shown in full color glory inside!  Due to copyright reasons the GIJCC images will not be mirrored here, however I’ve linked the figures below to pictures gathered from JoeCon 2009:

ARCTIC THREAT

DESERT BATTLE

JUNGLE ASSAULT

VEHICLES

It’s not exactly clear what assortments are what, or when these will be released, though I’d imagine we’ll see them before years end, which rocks my world!  Of course, don’t forget to hit up the Pursuit of COBRA SuperPage for the lowdown on everything…

Sideshow Collectibles giving Joe fans Christmas in September.

I’ve been a bit behind posting some news updates as I had to go through a marathon 25 hour laptop upgrade project for work over the past two days, but hopefully I’ll start catching up.  First order of business is that for longtime Joe fans who are in love with the vintage look, Sideshow Collectibles continues to put out exceedingly impressive product.  In the past two weeks, reports have come of the COBRA Trooper shipping to folks who ordered it, and just yesterday a poster at HissTank reported that Storm Shadow arrived!

These items are pricey, but they are fantastic, in my humble opinion.  I’ve only had a chance to pick up Snake Eyes so far, but if he is any indication of the quality of these items, vintage fans are going to have a pretty sweet display shelf of 12″ greatness coming forward.  In a recent Q & A, Sideshow even confirmed that they have a Battle Helmet version of COBRA’s notorious Commander in the works!  Anyway, if you’ve missed out on any of this stuff, you haven’t necessarily missed the boat. Both items are currently sold out, but Sideshow’s wait list has given collectors some great second chances in the past.  Click the banners below to get on the list for the COBRA Trooper and the Storm Shadow!

HasbroToyShop has Wave 5 up for pre-order NOW!

G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA Wave 5 has been listed on HasbroToyShop for a while, but only as “Coming Soon”…well, this morning, the pre-order gates have opened!  Each figure (including the spectacular City Strike Snake Eyes) are now up for pre-order.  Looks like figures will begin shipping October 19th, but judging by how much in demand Snake Eyes seems to be, you may want to jump on this boat early at a decent price.

Don’t forget to use gijoe10 for a 10% discount!

The really exciting thing about this to me, is that it sounds very much like the awesome Pursuit of COBRA stuff will start hitting late this year…can’t wait for that.  Go get ’em!

G.I. Joe Sequel to start filming this year?

Take the info with a grain of salt, but Byung Hun Lee fansite, Byeung of our Hearts is reporting that a translated article from a Korean newspaper reports that the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA star is set to reprise his role as Storm Shadow in the sequel, possibly as early as this year!  According to the translated article:

“It was from BH Entertainment’s latest release that Byunghun will start filming the sequel of Storm Shadow in GI Joe 2.. as early as end of the year going for the first 6 months of 2010. Because of the successful outing of ‘GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ with US$288 million revenue worldwide, the production is wasting no time to start with the sequel. Lee Byung Hun’s management team is coordinating with the Hollywood production to really plan on Byunghun’s filming schedule for the coming year. He had also signed on for the 3rd movie.”

Awesome news.  Each day I’m growing fonder and fonder of this new world that Hasbro and Paramount are crafting, I can’t wait for movie fever to start ramping up again, pissed off fanboys and all. If nothing else, it makes operating a fansite a hell of a lot more interesting.

Pursuit of COBRA Storm Shadow test shot pictures

ocab27 over on HissTank.com has scored a Pursuit of COBRA Storm Shadow test shot, based on the tooling from the unreleased Resolute version, and has kindly posted images online, which I’ve hosted below.

This is one bad ass version of the COBRA Ninja…I love the Resolute tooling anyway, but with all of these bad ass accessories, this is a fantastic version of Storm Shadow.  Considering how tired I was getting of the character during the Anniversary line, the Rise of COBRA and Pursuit of COBRA has really revitalized the character, and given us some wonderful toys.  Awesome.  To see fully painted versions of this great looking figures, hit up the Pursuit of COBRA SuperPage.
