Boss Fight Studio Vitruvian HACKS Kickstarter is LIVE!

The day many of us have been waiting for has finally arrived!  Boss Fight Studio has launched their Kickstarter Campaign!

The Vitruvian HACKS action figure toyline promises to set the collector’s world on fire, but first it needs your support.  Check out the embedded video below, and please do your part to support this endeavor.  We’re all really familiar with the folks behind this, and if you’re like me, you have the utmost faith in what they can deliver.

LET’S DO THIS!

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals FSS 3.0 Alpine!

There is still some hard feelings among the G.I. Joe community over the original 25th Anniversary Alpine, which came out in a very difficult to find boxed set and promptly soared to wallet-busting levels on the secondary market.

So when the G.I. Joe Collectors Club announced during JoeCon that they were doing an Alpine, the collective cheer was only muted by the questions on the fans’ lips…  why the new sculpt version?

Personally, I’m a big fan of the Kwinn figure, as I think pretty much every G.I. Joe fan in history is, so using him as a template for Alpine makes a lot of sense and the figure looks fantastic.  I love that they actually went with the Firefly torso, though with that knit shirt underneath.  Nice touch. The new head sculpt has those unique ridges that the original one had, too, and maybe, just maybe those removable goggles can be used in such a way that the original head is at least somewhat replicated?  I don’t know.  I’m one of the lucky ones who got my 25th Anniversary Alpine for retail prices, so I’m pretty excited to see this one.  I’m a big fan of recreating new sculpt designs in the modern format (though I’ll admit Alpine wouldn’t be on top of that list).  Check out the image below and keep watching GIJoeClub.com for the latest FSS 3.0 intel.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Kre-O Wave 3

I know the reviews have been few and far between as I focus on the Dio-Story, but I’m hoping over the next few weeks to get some more stuff out there.  I’ve currently got the Hot Toys Roadblock, a few excellent Acid Rain items, and a few new wonderful items from the great guys at Codename: Iowa which should hopefully provide some reading material throughout the next month or two.

Starting it all off, though, is the latest assortment of G.I. Joe Kre-O items!  I’ve posted reviews for all three of the new assortments, including the Firebat/Wolverine, the Outpost Defender/Ferret, and Wave 3 of the Mini Figure Kre-Ons.  Check out my G.I. Joe Kre-O Review Section, or just click the direct links below:

Joe?  We got Kirk Bozigian for that!  You want to hear about stuff rolling with Boss Fight Studio?  Andrew Franks is actually one of the co-hosts!  You want to hear about some other cool projects from G.I. Joe fans?  Chris Sims and Chad Bowers lay the hammer about Down, Set, Fight!

There is literally something for everyone in this one.  Check out Episode 92 on our Podbean Page, or embedded below, and don’t forget to check the show notes!

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals FSS 3.0 Spearhead

Obviously not wanting the reveal of the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary figures to steal all the thunder, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has given us our first FSS 3.0 reveal!

Spearhead and Max in their original 1988 color scheme!  This is a Photoshop mock up, so final colors may change, but it’s a good idea of what we’re looking to get when the next FSS kicks off.

Keep watching GIJoeClub.com for the latest news and updates on the Figure Subscription Service!

Boss Fight Studio Kickstarter Incoming… and some future thoughts

Over the past couple of weeks, the folks at Boss Fight Studio have been revealing some more great sneak peeks and hints for their upcoming Kickstarter campaign.  Fans who are feeding for new 4″ toys to sink their teeth into should have their opportunity shortly as the toy makers promise a revolutionary new toy system with great design, articulation, and never before seen customization options.

I think as G.I. Joe fans we are all very familiar with the work from Boss Fight Studio on our precious G.I. Joe brand, and in fact we’re still seeing the fruits of their tireless labor with many of the upcoming 50th Anniversary releases.

Now, as the Kickstarter is on the verge of launching, we’re all anticipating some fantastic new action figures focused around Greek Mythology, a concept that many toy collectors have been waiting for all their lives.  It certainly seems as though Boss Fight is doing them proud!

As someone who has known the Boss Fight Studio folks for a very long time, and helped them develop their website, I’ve been able to get a little bit of a behind the scenes look at the process, and I feel no hesitation in saying that toy fans should be eating this stuff up.  These figures could potentially redefine the notion of “highly articulated” in the 4″ scale.  Just like our favorite G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figures totally turned the idea of articulation on its ear, Boss Fight Studio stands poised to do the same thing again.  As part of the concept process, I’ve also seen some upcoming work, and please trust me when I say that all of us have a lot of exciting stuff to look forward to.

While Assortment 1 is clearly focused on great offerings from the realm of Greek Mythology, there is much more planned in the future, and they are not afraid to jump into the science fiction world, too.  In fact, the third assortment will feature a fantastic robotic trooper that I think will appeal to many of us.  As one might expect, this great looking android promises a level of customization and articulation that all G.I. Joe fans expect, and is sure to come with a bevy of awesome science fiction accessories as well.  So when this Kickstarter launches, try not to just think of the amazing things that they’re doing with Greek Mythology, but think forward, and imagine what these design skills that we’ve seen on mostly normal bodies wearing historic armor could do with all of the limits removed and with only your imagination as the guide.  I get goose bumps just thinking about it!

I hope you’ll all join me as we wait for this exciting Kickstarter campaign and consider pledging to support the awesome work they’ve done, the great stuff they’re doing, and the mind-blowing assortments that are still to come!

BBTS SHARED EXCLUSIVE GI JOE 50TH ANNIVERSARY FIGURE THREE-PACKS
This wave of Three-Packs is titled Outnumbered and includes The Vipers Pit (Cobra Trooper, Cobra Viper, Beach Head) and The Eagles Edge (Destro, Leatherneck, Hawk). They are priced at $22.99 each, or at $39.99 for the Set of two Three-Packs.
BBTS SHARED EXCLUSIVE GI JOE 50TH ANNIVERSARY DANGER AT THE DOCKS SET
The first of two vehicle packs is the Danger at the Docks Set, which includes the GI Joe VAMP MK II with Flint Versus Cobra Eel with Night Landing Craft. This Set is listed at $29.99.
BBTS SHARED EXCLUSIVE GI JOE 50TH ANNIVERSARY BATTLE BELOW ZERO SET
We also have the Battle Below Zero Set listed. It includes Cobra Wolf with Ice Viper Versus Arctic Sky Hawk with Arctic Snake Eyes, and is priced at $39.99.

Curiously, they only seem to be offering the “Troop Builder” oriented 2 Packs at this point, with HEAT Viper and Night Viper.  Does “Wave 1” really just include two different 2 Packs?  Time will tell, I guess, though I guess the Arctic 2 Pack and Lady Jaye/Baroness 2 Pack could just be “Wave 2”.
