Something big in the works for IDW’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero?

It’s the vaguest of notions right now, especially since the arc is a few months away, but over on his fan-focused Facebook Page, Larry Hama made a startling admission today…

I think it’s a safe bet that the story arc in GI JOE ARAH that is comprised of issues #212, 213 and 214 will be fairly collectible.

Keep in mind that Larry Hama never really goes out of his way to promote his work, and has fully admitted to not having much sketched out continuity-wise. Issue #208 just hit shelves, so this is a few months out, but this should be interesting to keep an eye on to say the least. According to IDW Solicitations there is a big character return around that time, so…

Amazon.com starts rolling out the discounts

I’ve made no secret that I try to promote some Amazon sales through my site to not just bring to light some good deals, but also because as an Amazon Affiliate, purchases made through my affiliate link help support the website.

I try to keep the shilling to a minimum, but with Black Friday/Cyber Monday coming up, I figured this might be a good time to showcase some deals.

Darkness Falls Episode 35 – Heroes Fall is now online

First and foremost, I know I missed a week last week, and I apologize.  Hopefully the super-sized episode makes up for it this week.

Not only is this super sized, but the culmination of Project: Eclipse explodes into this one massive episode with dramatic and final results.  As G.I. Joe and Cobra exchange brutal gunfire, one member of the team may not make it out alive.

Check out Episode 35: Heroes Fall, or check the Darkness Falls section directly.

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 97 is now online

It’s been a little while, but the WOJM are back with a new episode featuring all of the latest news and G.I. Joe intel… from like a month ago. Oops.

In all seriousness, it’s not like G.I. Joe news has been hot and heavy these past few weeks, and we touch on some great topics, even broaching the hot-button issue of G.I. Joe Shattered Glass! We also talk about 50th Anniversary releases, the Kre-O Terror Drome and many other great topics.

As always check out the latest episode embedded below or at our Podbean Page.

SHOW NOTES

Not exactly a timely episode, but hey, not a lot is going on. No worries, #98 is right around the corner. You may be wishing for it after you hear Chuck ramble in the opening segment. We basically catch up on some old news, discuss COIL Con V and have a small roundtable on the Club wanting to experiment with Shattered Glass and more TF/Joe Crossovers…which make Gary very grumpy. Enjoy the funk!

Burger King Kid’s Meal G.I. Joe themed toys now found in the US

A while ago we had reported on International Burger King Kid’s Meal toys which were strangely G.I. Joe themed for no apparent reason. Well those strange international items have just been found in the United States. Iowa, to be exact.

Over on Facebook, Matt Brandenburg (former Hasbro design wizard who provided some excellent work in the Pursuit of Cobra toy line among others) reports that he has visited a local Burger King and found one of the G.I. Joe themed Kid’s Meals. In case you were wondering, Matt got the AWE Striker looking thing.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club “Pre Holiday” Sale – and FSS 3 not until Christmas?!

The G.I. Joe Collectors Club sent out an email yesterday announcing that many of their G.I. Joe items, including several back issues of the newsletter and entries from the FSS 2.0, would be going on a special “pre-Holiday” sale. There appears to be a solid $10 off each FSS 2.0 figure, and the newsletters are chopped down considerably as well. It might be a good opportunity for folks to go back and get those back issues of the Adventure Team or GIJCC Comic (both of which I enjoy).

Mixed in with this email, though, appears to be an update on the shipping of FSS 3.0, which the email indicates won’t be arriving until after Christmas.

I NEED MY HIT & RUN DANGIT.

More information as it becomes available, you can read the email below and check out their clearance sale right here.

Hello Club –

I hope all of you have a joyous Holiday Season and Merry Christmas. To make it merrier, we have started our holiday sale early!

We have marked prices down to some of their lowest levels as we are still trying to make room for the large FSS 3.0 shipment coming just after Christmas.

Please note that the Holiday Sale items are in the Clearance Section while we still have a few items left from our Club Archive Sale as well that are in the Featured Section. We have also removed all of the limits on the Archive Sale for what is left.

Don’t wait… these items will go quickly~

Thanks for your support and Happy Holidays!

Rumor – Martin Campbell on the short list to direct G.I. Joe 3

Take this with a heavy dose of salt, but according to SchmoesKnow.com, the producer of G.I. Joe 3, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has expressed serious interest in bringing Martin Campbell in to direct the third installment of the G.I. Joe film franchise. There has been some question about Jon Chu’s involvement over the past few months, and with him currently deep into the sequel of Now You See Mee, it would appear that Paramount is preparing to move in a different direction.

Keep in mind, this is far from a done deal, and in fact this seems to just be a “wish list” item and not even an actual contract signature, but it certainly has some interesting elements to it.

On the one hand, Campbell directed Green Lantern, one of the more ill-advised comic book films to come out in recent years, but some might argue that wasn’t the fault of the directing. I couldn’t say one way or the other, I could only sit through about twenty minutes of it.

However, on the other hand, Campbell was also in the director’s chair for the most seminal James Bond film of the past twenty years, Casino Royale. That movie propelled Daniel Craig to super star status and completely reinvented the James Bond brand. Those two films seem like such polar opposites I have a hard time wrapping my head around this rumor.

Time will tell. Head over to SchmoesKnow.com for the full story.
