New Kindle Worlds Novella – Welcome to Wolf Squad!

I’ll admit, I geeked out just a little bit during the GeneralsJoes Q & A when designer John Violette mentioned the Wolf Squad.  I geeked out so much I immediately started writing a new G.I. Joe Novella, my first fan fiction since my Dio-Story universe ended!

Fans who are familiar with the line up for the upcoming 50th Anniversary assortment in 2015 will find a lot in common here.  Using the mentioned “Wolf Squad” as an inspiration, I crafted an exciting story pitting Joes against Cobras with the characters and vehicles from this upcoming line.

It’s a Novella and it’s available on Kindle Worlds now!  Check it out!
!

Any reference to Wolf Squad here is my own take on the idea, nothing endorsed by Hasbro…and this is a “stand alone” story, though may end up being somewhat of a spring board into something…we’ll see.  🙂

Enjoy!

Hasbro G.I. Joe Q & A at ComicCon

During the chaos of San Diego ComicCon, friend of GeneralsJoes Chris Polansky took some time to stop by the  Hasbro booth and spoke with Mark Weber, Derryl DePriest, and John Violette about their roles in the latest iteration of G.I. Joe.  They talk 50th Anniversary, IDW Comics, Kre-O, and all sorts of other topics.  It was a great conversation, which I’ve transcribed below.  Big thanks to Chris for taking the time out of his trip to help out. Enjoy!

GeneralsJoes Reviews the ComicCon Crimson Strike Boxed Set

Last week I posted a review for the ComicCon Kre-O Slaughter Marauders boxed set, and this week I’m following up an exciting SDCC with a review of the exclusive Crimson Strike boxed set with the Cobra Scythe w/ AVAC & Alley-Viper Officer vs. the G.I. Joe CHIMERA w/ Steeler & Grunt.  They’re two pretty fun pieces of a cool looking set that you’ll only find at San Diego ComicCon and HasbroToyShop.

THE COBRA WORLD ORDER STARTS THIS OCTOBER FOR G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO

Today in conjunction with San Diego ComicCon, IDW Publishing has announced the latest big event for the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero universe.  This October begins the COBRA WORLD ORDER!

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero
The Master Plan Is Set

San Diego, CA (July 11, 2015) – This October, it’s zero hour for A Real American Hero! G.I. JOE has been fighting the evil forces of COBRA for decades, but now COBRA is ready to unleash its master plan on an unsuspecting G.I. JOE!

Written by the man who started it all, G.I. JOE comics legend Larry Hama, this table-setter leads into a mammoth 8-part bi-weekly event, kicking off with G.I. JOE: ARAH #219 and #220! Art duties for this arc will be in the very capable hands of S.L. Gallant who has become a fan-favorite for his attention to detail and accurate portrayals of classic G.I. JOE vehicles and characters.

“What we have seen of Cobra’s plans in G.I. JOE: ARAH to date is just the tip of the iceberg,” said series writer, Hama. “Other players in the Cobra periphery—like Destro and Zartan—are making their moves so as to be in on whatever benefits accrue from Cobra Commander’s master plot. Meanwhile, Hawk leads an international team around the globe to uncover the details of this sinister conspiracy.”

The Prelude issue will boast covers by some of the hottest artists working in the industry today; with Paul Popeleading the charge on the standard cover and variant covers by Francesco Francavilla and Phil Jimenez. And it doesn’t end there; this issue is also part of IDW’s celebrated Artist’s Edition Month with a variant by Stephen Mooney as well as a Blank Sketch variant.

Whether you are a longtime fan or new to this world, G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero: COBRA WORLD ORDER Prelude is the prefect jumping on point for all.

“After the Death of Snake Eyes, I didn’t think Larry would come up with something that could top a story like that… but the more we talked about COBRA WORLD ORDER and the more details he gave me about COBRA’s momentous scheme, the more I saw this as a perfect event: something accessible to new readers that still pays off years of worldbuilding and storytelling in G.I. JOE: ARAH. Fans—new and old alike—are gonna be blown away!” said IDW editor, Carlos Guzman.

The 8-part COBRA WORLD ORDER starts here and will continue in the following months’ now bi-weekly G.I. JOE: ARAH! Don’t miss it!

Ladies and gentlemen…we have a BILLY!

It’s been nearly 30 years since he first appeared in the Marvel Comics, a young member of the Cobra youth. He evolved quite a bit since his first appearance, attempting to assassinate his own father, Cobra Commander, losing limbs in a rocket attack from Scrap Iron, and eventually falling under the tutelage of Storm Shadow.

Throughout the years, Billy has become one of the most critical pieces of the G.I. Joe comic book mythology, yet he has never had his own action figure.

Until now.

The Collectors Club revealed their final FSS IV installment today, and it’s none other than Billy himself, for the first time ever. Representing his commando look from the Devils’ Due comics (YES) Billy looks pretty darn good. A very basic build with an exciting new head sculpt, but I think it works remarkably well. This will fill a big hole in comic fans’ collections.

Check out the mirrored image below, and don’t forget to hit up GIJoeClub.com by midnight on July 15th to sign up for FSS IV!

New screens from game play of UbiSoft’s Toy Soldiers at ComicCon

At ComicCon today, the admin of HissTank attended a panel for Toy Soldiers: War Chest which showed off some gameplay for the upcoming toy based video game.  He took a ton of images of game play, which I’ve mirrored a few of below.  There are a ton more images over at HissTank.com so check them all out, and take a peek at a few of the great pictures below as well.

This looks like a pretty fun toy-based game with Rattlers, ground troops, and all sorts of stuff in between.

Check out the original article at HissTank and the images below.

IDW Publishing and Capcom reveal upcoming Street Fighter X G.I. Joe Limited Series

An intriguing curve ball out of San Diego ComicCon today, as both IDW Publishing and Capcom themselves revealed that debuting in 2016 will be a six issue limited series pitting the characters from the Street Fighter universe against the characters from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero world.

As of now this confrontation is limited to the comic book pages, but when Capcom and Hasbro are working together, one must wonder how far this little partnership just might go.

Stay tuned.

Figure Subscription Service Ice Ninja Night Creeper

As we near the end of the week, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has revealed their second to last FSS IV figure, the Night Creeper Ice Ninja!

Using the same formula as the Concept Case Night Creeper with the ’98 three pack paint scheme, this is a really nice looking figure in stark white colors.  Check out GIJoeClub.com for the latest FSS subscription info and the image is mirrored below.

Bring on Billy!

Sneak Peek at next generation of G.I. Joe Loyal Subjects Vinyl Figures

The first run of Loyal Subjects vinyl figures was pretty fun, I thought, and I ended up with most, if not all of them. Well, for this next iteration, the folks at Loyal Subjects are truly pulling out all the stops. Increased articulation, added detail and removable masks highlight some of the offerings, but that’s not all.

VEHICLES.

That’s right, VEHICLES. The Loyal Subjects have revealed a FANG, a VAMP, and a Watchtower to fit their vinyl figures. Amazing!

Check out the details at the Loyal Subjects blog, and I’ve mirrored some of the images below.
