Reminder – Robert Atkins Custom Contest ends tomorrow GO VOTE!

Just wanted to post up a reminder…  Robert Atkins is still accepting votes for his Cobra Commander custom contest over on his Blogspot page!  There are a number of great suggestions there with something for everyone.

Modern era, o-ring, even 12″ formats are all represented, which is awesome.  Shame on you customizers for not bringing in a Sigma 6 version.  :shifty:

In all seriousness, the offerings are all great, Robert is an awesome guy (and an awesome artist) and even if you’re not going to vote, go check out the entries.

Hasbro posts pre Toy Fair Press Release – Nothing we don’t know for G.I. Joe

I wanted to make sure I had that caveat up in the title of the post.  It’s normal practice for Hasbro to have a press release shortly prior to their weekend Fan Event at Toy Fair, just so media outlets get an official notice of what to expect at the show.

Due to that release of images and information last week, there are no real additional details that are G.I. Joe related in this particular release, but just for the sake of being thorough, I’m posting it anyway.

This doesn’t mean that there won’t be anything we haven’t seen already at Toy Fair…there very well may be.  Just nothing striking enough for Hasbro to mention in a public press release notification.  Click the Read The Rest of the Story link below for the full release.

Jim Sorenson to release G.I. Joe Animation Model book this summer

See, THIS is why fans of a property should be excited about a “movie year” even if they’re not necessarily excited about the movie.  When G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hit theaters, obviously not many folks enjoyed it, but what they didn’t really understand was that the movie release paved the way for a lot of other cool things they may not have gotten otherwise (like G.I. Joe: Resolute, for instance).

Looks like the same could be true this summer!  Over on his blog, Disciples of Boltax, Jim Sorenson reveals that he is currently working on a G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animation model book, with hopes to release it this summer.  He reveals that there has been an unusually large number of animation model sheets out there, and seems enthusiastic and optimistic that the book will be chock full of cool things for Joe fans to enjoy.

Transformers fans will likely recognize Sorenson from his work on the various Transformers AllSpark Almanacs and Addendums, and if we get the same attention to detail and presentation as those books offer, this should be a great one to add to your G.I. Joe library!

Check out the blog right here, and also you European fans, Jim Sorenson will be attending Roll Out Roll Call 3, so hit him up there and find out the skinny on his upcoming book.  I’m looking forward to it!

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW Snake Eyes #10

I ran a bit behind last week getting the IDW reviews posted, but I don’t intend to make that mistake this week, especially as Cobra Command continues on and we finally get at least a little bit of interaction between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

I’m the last person to complain about a lack of ninja conflict within the G.I. Joe universe, but IDW has really been dragging out the whole Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow dynamic.  Apparently they’re moving closer to a resolution here as Snake Eyes wades neck deep into Red Ninja territory.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation SuperPages are now online

I know I’ve already linked up the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Movie SuperPage, but I just wanted folks to know that it’s all up to date with all trailers and all screen caps or images that I’ve gathered together so far.

I also just added the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Toys SuperPage, collecting all of the images that we’ve received from Hasbro thus far.  I didn’t include the oversized “Ninja Commando” figures or the Role Playing stuff, but all of the 4″ related stuff is there.  If there are any major changes you want to see or any alterations that should be made, feel free to let me know.  Check out the links below to check them out.

G.I. Joe Review Podcast posts Episode #44

Sidewinder, Chad, and Matthew all come together to release the landmark 44th episode of G.I. Joe Review!  The G.I. Joe podcast that started it all…

Flag Points podcast posts Episode 17 featuring Neil Ross!

For those of you folks who don’t know who Neil Ross is, you only have to watch some of the Sunbow cartoon, and you’re almost guaranteed to hear his voice.  Mr. Ross voiced the infamous Shipwreck, one of the most polarizing and popular characters from the 80’s G.I. Joe mythology!

The guys at Flag Points took some time and spoke with Neil, and it was a terrific conversation!  Getting some behind the scenes intel from the voice cast has been one of the highlights of doing the podcast for myself, and this was a great get for Flag Points.  The conversation is awesome and is a must listen for Joe fans.

Check it out at their Podbean page!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation French Trailer Screen Caps

Yes, there was about 4 seconds of new footage, but still some interesting details mixed within those four seconds!  We quite possibly got our first on screen look at the Cobra HISS Tank, a better view of Cobra Commander and Firefly, and lots of shots of President Zartan addressing the leaders of the World.

Good stuff!

And yes, as the movie gets closer, expect me to dive into and pick apart every minute detail.  I’m a little OCD like that, sorry.  Check out the screen caps below.
