Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday is “Free Comic Book Day” at comic stores across the nation, and IDW is offering a combination Transformers Animated/G.I. Joe book to celebrate the event. It will include an 11-page story from Transformers Animated, and will also contain TWO different G.I. Joe stories. From the sounds of it, one is written by Chuck Dixon and the other by Larry Hama.
Click here for all the juicy details, but more importantly, swing by your local comic shop this Saturday and scoop one up. Can’t beat the price!
While just rumor for the moment, all the pieces are starting to fit together, and it’s sounding more and more likely that my favorite Transformers toyline since Beast Wars is fading into the ether with the coming of Revenge of the Fallen.
Honestly I was a bit concerned with the future of the line due to the arrival of Revenge of the Fallen this summer, anyway, since we all know Hasbro likes focusing on the movie stuff during the movie years. But then came the announcement that the third season of Transformers: Animated would be the last, which led directly into Toy Fair, where no one from Hasbro would confirm anything about the future of the show or the toyline in general. That was all accentuated by the fact that Hasbro essentially showed us nothing of an Animated nature at Toy Fair (aside from the Deluxe Arcee).
Man, is it a great time to be a geek or what? As a childhood toy and comic book freak, who would have thought that summers in my 30’s would be spent enjoying (for the most part) Hollywood’s take on those super heroes and supernatural characters that shaped my imagination back then. But honestly I’m not sure there’s been a better slate of geek-flicks than what’s shaping up this year. This is gonna be a blast! Keep reading for trailers, clips, and my unwelcome opinions…
Big thanks to The Terror Drome for pointing out the following video from E! Online, which showcases a few Transformers and G.I. Joe toys, including the Night Raven and The Pit:
Wow! I can appreciate a good custom, but every once in a rare while I get smacked in the face with total awesomeness and just need to take a little step back. This is one of those times.
Dr. Vile over at Hisstank.com has done an absolutely incredible G.I. Joe/Transformers combination custom using a Night Raven and Unicron. This thing is pure insanity. Check it out here. The definition of “kick ass custom”.
EDIT: I thought non-members could view the images on Hisstank these days, but someone tells me that’s not the case. I’ve mirrored the images below:
I don’t talk much about Transformers here, what with this being a G.I. Joe page and all (or…well…at least a G.I. Joe and Marvel Animation page recently… :shifty: ) but I ran across this story on TFW2005 and just felt like I had to comment.
Well, that is, if you can consider “NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!” a comment.
