Robert Atkins does the Red Shadows…and a new project on the horizon!

As Robert Atkins is en route to Southampton, England to attend Roll Out Roll Call 3, he has posted a great image of the exclusive print that the folks at RORC 3 plan to have available at the show!

It is an absolutely awesome Red Shadows piece that you can see here, or mirrored below.

Also, Robert is in the midst of a new project, and he needs our help!  He is currently working with Quinn Johnson on a pretty neat looking new super hero comic project called Elders of the Runestone, and they have launched a Kickstarter page to help fund it.  You can check out the video below, and please, if you can, take a few moments to go to Kickstarter and help fund Robert’s exciting new project.

Excellent interview of IDW Editor John Barber on ComixVerse.com

The folks behind The Comix Verse are friends of the site and are making a push to bring their network of sites into the mainstream…doing a great job of it, too.  They’ve posted a very good and enlightening interview with IDW editor John Barber, who is one of the guys editing the G.I. Joe stable of titles, and also the writer of the impressive G.I. Joe: Retaliation Prequel limited series.  He lets loose some insight about what might be coming after Cobra Command, and the interview even showcases some nice preview pages!

Check it out right here.  Good stuff, and thanks to The Terror Drome for the heads up.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s G.I. Joe: RAH Annual for 2012

The idea of a “Yearbook” or “Annual” seems like almost a thing of the past, especially in the G.I. Joe world, and I was excited to hear that IDW was reviving the concept for the Real American Hero title.  Many of those old school yearbooks were some of the coolest stories going on in the Marvel days.

IDW really dives head long into the whole vintage concept here as well, as they comb the historical archives and pull out some really great art talents to bring this story to life.

The end results?  Well, you’re just going to have to click the Read the Rest of this Story link below for the full details.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Yearbook Collection

I’ve misplaced the solicitation information, but IDW will be reprinting all of the old school Marvel series Yearbooks, which is awesome.  There were four them in total, and they were all pretty impressive stories and had some terrific art, to boot.  The Michael Golden Oktober Guard from Yearbook #2 pretty much redefined those characters.  Good stuff.

Sneak Preview of G.I. Joe: Retaliation Prequel #2

It seemed like just two weeks ago that the first issue of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation prequel hit…  mostly because it was.  Wasting no time, IDW plans to continue their operations in the G.I. Joe: Retaliation timeline this coming Wednesday with their second issue.

And like with the first, an online site has a sneak preview!  This time around it’s i09.com and you can check out the first handful of pages from the Retaliation prequel #2 right here.

I just checked them out, and…  I’m interested!  I thought the first issue was fine, but nothing mind-blowing.  The second issue, though, looks like it ties Mainframe and Roadblock’s backstory together nicely.  And holy crap Sky Sweeper!  LOVE IT.

I’ve mirrored one of the pages below, be sure to hit up i09.com for the rest.
