HissTank forum member dcooper reports that Burger King will apparently be doing a promotion with G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA and offering toys related to the film through their restaurants. There will be toys and posters, and potentially some sort of “exclusive” to help drive up interest.

Ever since Destro debuted on the Black Sheep Toy Store a few weeks ago, many US-based Joe fans have been getting this figure in their mailbox, and now I can count myself in that camp. I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the figure and do up an impromptu review for those interested.
The character of Destro is indellible in the G.I. Joe mythos, and some might argue he is as important to the story, if not moreso, than COBRA Commander himself. He brought a sense of honor and tradition to the super villain role, and successfully walked the line between soulless evil-doer and a man of integrity. Some might say he actually walked that line a bit too well, for being a weapon supplier for terrorists.

The folks at JoeCanuck have revealed the first of their five (!!) exclusives for the upcoming Canadian Joe Con, happening May 2nd, 2009. The first figure shown is Chacal Noir, or the Black Jackal, and he is an Anniversary sculpt featuring a filecard written by G.I. Joe legend Larry Hama.
Click here to check out the full details, and make sure to keep your eyes peeled to CanadianJoeCon.com for all of the upcoming information on the convention itself. The guest list now includes Hasbro Canada, Mark Bellomo, and David Willis of Shortpacked! fame. Quite an impressive list of guest stars so far.

While everyone’s been ranting and raving about the new auction pictures posted of newer Rise of COBRA figures, Toy News International went one step further and managed to acquire cardback pictures of these new figures! Among these cardback images, specifically the one for Deep Six, reveals a new, unknown COBRA Trooper, the “Elite Viper”.
The Elite Viper image on the cardback can be seen here.
Also, thanks to the larger carded images, we now know that Barbecue and Firefly appear to be part of a “Headquarters to Heroes” Toys “R” Us exclusives line.
To see all of these great larger images, click here, and big kudos to Toy News International for scoring these additional pictures!
EDIT – The images are now being mirrored in a gallery below… Check ’em out!

The well-connected cmderinchief comes through with some more pictures of an upcoming Rise of COBRA figure, this time in the form of the Wave 1 Scarlett. He’s allowed me to host the images in a gallery below as well:
Hmmm… yikes. I know I’ll be waiting for the armored version myself, just something about that figure is not jiving with me. Hasbro has proven that they can make decent looking female figures, but for whatever reason, Scarlett doesn’t make that cut.

Yesterday GeneralsJoes reported about a new set of eBay auctions hitting the web which featured a wealth of figures we had not yet seen for sale, however we didn’t want to host images without the sellers permission. Well, we’ve received permission, and you can check out the gallery of images below featuring figures currently at auction from abee8808 and gotSWtoys.
abee8808 is selling the carded items, and he especially has some very, very nice pieces up for grabs.

Another interesting thing to note is that the COBRA Commander figure that abe8808 has listed here looks quite a bit different than the one we’d seen previously at the Black Sheep Toy Store. Check out a comparison image below:

Obviously these are early items and fans can expect some fluidity to the design, but as carded, near-production level pieces, it’s sort of odd to see such discrepencies…it will be interesting to see what we get once these figures actually hit retail.
