Nightly News Recap – New pictures of Rise of COBRA Viper Commando

cmderinchief from JoeBattleLines and the Coil Club has come through with yet another run of pictures from an upcoming Rise of COBRA figure, this time in the form of the Viper Commando.  This figure looks to be based strongly on the other COBRA trooper figures we’ve seen from the Rise of COBRA so far, only with a much cooler backpack and some additional gear.  I love the head sculpt, too…

Nightly News Recap – Black Sheep Toy Store has TRU Firefly and Cover Girl

It’s been a bit quiet on the loose figures front for the Black Sheep Toy Store, but he comes through in a big way today with some new auctions up (with some great images) for the Toys “R” Us Headquarters for Heroes Firefly and Rise of COBRA Cover Girl.

Images of these two very nice looking figures have been mirrored below.  That Firefly is the BOMB.  He’ll fit in seamlessly with the Resolute universe, especially with this guy’s armor.

Nightly News recap – Upcoming figure pictures flood the Internet

Oh.  My.  God.

Yeah…  if this is what’s going to happen every time I take a day off to actually get some work done, I’m going to take a whole lot more days off!  Good grief, the floodgates opened.  I’m not even sure where to start.

First and foremost, Asia blew the doors open with a sudden outpouring of photographs of figures never seen before.  Pretty ironic that we got some Wal-Mart listings yesterday, and now all of a sudden these pictures all start flying over the Pacific.  Whatever the reasoning is, there are a ton of great pics of great new product at a bunch of different places.  You enterpising Joe fans that you are have probably checked them out already, but here are the links anyway:

  • HissTank.com (Resolute Roadblock, Destro, and Wild Bill)
  • The TerrorDrome (A whole lot more including the aforementioned ones, plus a bunch of figures from apparent Wal-Mart 2-packs and vehicle drivers)
  • HissTank.com (the same pic batch as the TerrorDrome ones above)

New Wal-Mart listings revealed – MORE DETAILS!

Ah, the ever vigilant Joefan Wal-Mart employees have cracked the code again and provided a rundown of what appears to be a listing from Wal-Mart for upcoming product.  Note, NONE of this can be considered confirmed, as we all found out with Waves 14 and 15.  However, so far the accuracy rating for these lists has been pretty damn high.  I’m reluctant to say what I’m going to say, because it could “spoil” a lot of stuff, but it’s already out there, so we’ll go with it.

tkprime from HissTank.com and the SuperPoseable Blog are reporting that they have dug through the Wal-Mart computers and come up with a potential list for upcoming product:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt talks about his role as COBRA Commander

AceShowBiz.com spoke with Joseph Gordon-Levitt about the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA motion picture, particularly about the recently revealed look for COBRA Commander.  The actor had some interesting things to say:

“That toy is not my face. It’s a mask. I like that I get to keep my face,” he insisted, explaining. “It has less to do with me and more to do with this character that I helped create. That’s more thrilling to me. It’s this thing that was born out of a creative, collaborative process between me and a bunch of other people that all worked on creating this character.”

He also mentions that COBRA Commander’s “look” was a big reason why he wanted the role to begin with:

“The way the character looks, that’s what ultimately convinced me to do the part,” he noted. “I saw the designs and drawings of the way they interpreted my character for this movie – the costume, the whole getup – and I was like, ‘Oh, wow. I get to be that guy? Fantastic. Sign me up. Please. Thank you.”
