Official Images of upcoming Rise of Cobra “Rip Attack” vehicles

We’ve seen enough of these images to really know what we’re getting with these sets, but the fact that we now have official pictures to show probably means these are on the verge of release.  And as usual, these two vehicles add a sense of conflict…  I love the Elite-Viper, but would have loved something NEW with the Elite-Viper…however, the Cobra vehicle is far superior to the G.I. Joe one.  On the flip side, though, this strange amalgamation of Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes and the Commando Snake Eyes from Rise of Cobra at least offers some new elements, even if the end result is a bulkier version of the same figure.  Bulk is exactly what that figure needed, though, so maybe this is a good thing?

First news leak on upcoming G.I. Joe Animated Series

With credit to Steevey Maximus over on HissTank.com who reports that a Transformers podcast Moonbase2 spoke with legendary voice actor Michael Bell and asked him about upcoming audition work.  To my pleasant surprise, Mr. Bell responded that he had actually auditioned for the role of General Hawk in an upcoming G.I. Joe animated series!

Slated to run for twenty-six episodes, the series appears to be in the very early stages, and will possibly air late next year to correspond with the Pursuit of Cobra.  No other details are known as of yet, but you can bet that I’ll keep my ear to the ground.

For folks who aren’t aware, Michael Bell played Duke in the original Sunbow animated series.

KickAss Customs of the week – CustomCon 24!

One of the coolest events in toy customization are the occasional “CustomCons” held by renowned toy website The Fwoosh.  During these “CustomCons”, customs of all shapes, sizes, and styles are presented as if they are new toylines being shown to the public.  There usually are some very cool things to be seen, including some occasional G.I. Joe related items.

This time around, though, Joe custom fansite JoeCustoms.com goes way above and beyond, by designing and “producing” a full-fledged “Spooks” boxed set using G.I. Joe parts.  You might wonder what the big deal about Spook is?  Well, it’s a very cool comic title by Devils’ Due Publishing written by none other than Larry Hama, so there are obvious ties to the G.I. Joe brand scattered throughout.

As part of this great CustomCon presentation, JoeCustoms has an exciting announcement to come in the next four days…keep your eyes peeled!  Until then, check out their great boxed set over on The Fwoosh.  More will  be coming as well…

Alexx Shorts covers the Wal-Mart Ninja Battles set

Normally I might not cover this, but I’m pretty sure I won’t end up owning this set, so I figured it’s only right to give it some due publicity by showcasing Alexx’s latest photographic onslaught, this time focusing on the Wal-Mart Exclusive Ninja Battles set.  Chock full of gear with some…  “interesting” paint application choices, Alexx breaks down exactly what’s in the box and whether it’s worth your time.

The review itself is right here, but check out the images below.
