Sideshow Collectibles 12" Duke IN STOCK NOW

I never thought I’d be all fired up about a new Duke figure, but the 12″ Sideshow Collectibles one is pretty damn sick.  Tons of detail, great weapons, and a very nice homage to the G.I. Joe “Top Shirt” as he should be represented.
When initially offered for pre-order, they sold out pretty quick, but Sideshow now has some in stock available for “Second Chance Offer”.  Click the banner below to grab ’em before they’re gone again!

Packaged images of third Pursuit of Cobra wave appear overseas

Asian G.I. Joe fansite, ACToys.net has gotten some very nice images posted of the upcoming third wave of Pursuit of Cobra single pack figures.  Referred to by many as “Wave 3”, this is actually the first wave of 2011 product, which generally starts hitting retail around the end of the previous year.  So hopefully we may see this product on store shelves December of 2010, or January, 2011.
Thanks to The Terror Drome for the intel, the images are mirrored below.

Hasbro releases statement about SDCC Exclusive Sgt. Slaughter

Yeah, I know I’m a day late and a dollar short, but as my Twitter  followers know, I was on the road all day yesterday doing a bit of toy hunting (without any luck).  During my road trip, Hasbro’s PR Agency released a note in regards to the SDCC Exclusive Sgt. Slaughters.  The note has been met with a mixture of humor, distaste, and optimism by Joe fans and other fans around the ‘net.
Humor and distaste because the letter is pretty adamant that there was Sgt. Slaughter stock that hit HasbroToyShop, but nobody can really find evidence that this was truly the case (especially in regards to the TTT version).  However, in more positive news, Hasbro also pointed out that they were working on plans to get the figure(s) reissued and re-released through other means in Spring, 2011.  Most likely in a different packaging format, and not through the single pack main line, but through some other means, which is good news for those 25th Anniversary fans who want to add Sarge to their ranks.  Of course a lot of those same fans love the single pack format, so this news probably won’t make everyone happy.

Full steam ahead for Rise of Cobra sequel?

I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s been unusually quiet on the Hollywood front when it comes to G.I. Joe.  In light of the negative press and the adequate, but not stellar 350 million dollar box office take, while Paramount reported a sequel would move into production, we really haven’t heard much.
Sure, the snippet of news announcing Zombieland scribes as the script writers… news that Stephen Sommers may come back to direct.  Maybe it’s just because Transformers 3 is already so deep into production that it seems oddly silent.
But in a potential point of good news (depending on your perspective, of course), movie rumor site The Wrap has gotten its hands on a supposed email document from within Paramount.  Of course, Paramount has already denied its authenticity, so who really knows how real it is.  Regardless, it does mention G.I. Joe 2, mentions Stephen Sommers directing, and that folks are “VERY happy w/the Reese & Wernick draft”.
Ultimately, this likely means little, but for those few of us who are looking forward to how G.I. Joe evolves its movie universe (or perhaps other folks are looking to see what they can do to repair it), this is a nice snippet of news.  Hopefully as 2011 kicks off we may start hearing more about it.
Thanks to Entertainment News International for the tip.

Great insight into the pre-production and production PoC figures

From someone who has a great perspective…  over on HissTank.com, Gyre-Viper has posted a nice, in depth look at some of the differences between the pre-production and production versions of the upcoming Pursuit of Cobra Zartan and Destro figures.  The images really lay out some of the obvious and subtle changes the figures made along their long trek to retail shelves.
I find this kind of stuff really fascinating, as you try and track down what  changes were made, why they were made and what the differences are.  So many things to consider that many of us don’t even think about.
