Some fantastic very “G.I. Joe” like concept art from Captain America: Winter Soldier

Thanks as always to Twitziller who manages to find the coolest concept art out there.  Recently Josh Nizzi, who not only did concept work for Captain America 2, but also Rise of Cobra and Retaliation, has posted some of his work for the Marvel Studios sequel.

Fans of G.I. Joe: The Pursuit of Cobra will likely smile at some of these and identify pretty strongly with them.  I’m not sure if there was some influence somewhere along the way, or it’s just a happy coincidence, but pretty cool seeing some of Falcon’s concept art looking pretty close to Skydive/Ripcord’s flight suit.

Check out those two images below, and be sure to comb through Josh Nizzi’s site for some actual G.I. Joe goodness while you’re at it.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals FSS 3.0 Alpine!

There is still some hard feelings among the G.I. Joe community over the original 25th Anniversary Alpine, which came out in a very difficult to find boxed set and promptly soared to wallet-busting levels on the secondary market.

So when the G.I. Joe Collectors Club announced during JoeCon that they were doing an Alpine, the collective cheer was only muted by the questions on the fans’ lips…  why the new sculpt version?

Personally, I’m a big fan of the Kwinn figure, as I think pretty much every G.I. Joe fan in history is, so using him as a template for Alpine makes a lot of sense and the figure looks fantastic.  I love that they actually went with the Firefly torso, though with that knit shirt underneath.  Nice touch. The new head sculpt has those unique ridges that the original one had, too, and maybe, just maybe those removable goggles can be used in such a way that the original head is at least somewhat replicated?  I don’t know.  I’m one of the lucky ones who got my 25th Anniversary Alpine for retail prices, so I’m pretty excited to see this one.  I’m a big fan of recreating new sculpt designs in the modern format (though I’ll admit Alpine wouldn’t be on top of that list).  Check out the image below and keep watching GIJoeClub.com for the latest FSS 3.0 intel.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Kre-O Wave 3

I know the reviews have been few and far between as I focus on the Dio-Story, but I’m hoping over the next few weeks to get some more stuff out there.  I’ve currently got the Hot Toys Roadblock, a few excellent Acid Rain items, and a few new wonderful items from the great guys at Codename: Iowa which should hopefully provide some reading material throughout the next month or two.

Starting it all off, though, is the latest assortment of G.I. Joe Kre-O items!  I’ve posted reviews for all three of the new assortments, including the Firebat/Wolverine, the Outpost Defender/Ferret, and Wave 3 of the Mini Figure Kre-Ons.  Check out my G.I. Joe Kre-O Review Section, or just click the direct links below:
