I hope everyone is enjoying these, because we’ve still got 35 left to go!
As we lead up to the release of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film, Twitziller continues to count down the reasons why the film is going to be fun. Next in line!

Again, I feel like Twitziller and I are on the same page here. High tech equipment has always been one of the hallmarks of G.I. Joe vs. Cobra, and while we certainly got our fair share of that in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, the stuff we’re getting in the second film seems much more in line with our plastic universe over the past three decades. Motorcycles that turn into rockets… I mean come on!
Between that bike, Cobra Commander’s personal gunship, the Water Moccasin, and of course the immortal HISS Tanks, these Hollywood renditions of our plastic toys seem much more lifelike and much more like our ten year old imagination made “flesh”.

Continuing his roll over on Twitter, Twitziller has come up with Reason #37 why G.I. Joe: Retaliation will rock as we march on towards…well… March. The film hits March 29th, a mere 37 days away.

One of the most unheralded G.I. Joe characters in the 30 year history of the brand, Flint has always been one of my “go to” guys when it came to my G.I. Joe roster. Sure, he got some great face time in the Sunbow animated series, but I never felt like his character was captured perfectly. To me, the indelible vision I have of Flint is the sequence from G.I. Joe #53, where a squad of Cobra Eels is sneaking in to sabotage the PIT, and as Flint tells Lady Jaye to run for it, he dives head first into the entire squad, taking them on hand-to-hand.
Flint’s battle prowess is only matched by his intelligence, being a Rhodes Scholar, and I’m excited that he appears to be a major player in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. I’ve enjoyed DJ Cotrona in other things I’ve seen him in, and I’m looking forward to his take on Dash Fairborne.

Keeping up the daily tradition, Twitziller has posted another reason to look forward to G.I. Joe: Retaliation on his Twitter account! The latest reason can be seen below:

The term sandbox can mean many different things, and I love the dichotomy here. It truly is a sandbox in every sense of the word. Having the latest G.I. Joe story take place at least partly in a desert makes sense considering the global military landscape, but it also makes sense from the perspective of each of our 10 year old selves slamming our own action figures around in our sandbox. While most of us smacked our Snake Eyes and Destro action figures together in the sand, Director Jon Chu is doing what we only dreamed of. Taking these toys and making an actual world out of them. Let’s see what he can do.

Once a day these updates are going to hit Twitziller’s Twitter feed, and once a day, I’m going to put them up here on GeneralsJoes, too. Momentum is building for G.I. Joe: Retaliation! A daily reminder of what to look forward to is never a bad thing.
Keep watching Twitziller on Twitter, and I’ve also posted the next reason below.

G.I. Joe is certainly all about characters, but it’s also about the hardware. After all, the original G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero concept was sold as a vehicle idea with the figures simply being compliments to the military ordnance that accompanied them. It really speaks to Larry Hama’s characterizations that allowed the universe to thrive over the past 30 years.
The idea of “10 minutes in the future” for military hardware keeps things somewhat grounded, yet still science-fiction enough to be different from your standard 21st Century technology. The Ripsaw is an awesome way to touch both ideals, and manages to mesh with existing G.I. Joe concepts quite nicely.

Forty seems like a big number, until you realize just what kind of roller coaster G.I. Joe fans have been on over the past nine months with the impending release of the film, and then the sudden rescheduling. Over on Twitter, GeneralsJoes pal Twitziller has begun a massive “40 reasons G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be great” campaign and he has graciously allowed me to mirror those thoughts on GeneralsJoes as well.
With the film making it’s big debut on March 29th, I’m looking for as many reasons as possible to talk about it, and I think he’s got some great thoughts.
Without further ado… Forty Reasons why G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be great!
