G.I. Joe Collectors Club posts final sample image of Cross Country

While we’ve already seen a heavily Photoshopped image of the upcoming 2014 Membership figure, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has now posted an image of the final production sample of the upcoming Cross Country figure. You can check out the image over on GIJoeClub.com!

You MUST be a member by March 16th in order to get this figure, and trust me, past years are selling for big bucks right now. It’s only $44 for the year, and it comes with the free figure, plus 12 issues of a really fun newsletter to boot.

Check out the Cross Country image below, and hit up GIJoeClub.com for the latest Club news and announcements.

GeneralsJoes Reviews FSS 2.0 Tollbooth and Desert Scorpion!

And just like that, GeneralsJoes has caught up on the backlog of reviews! Some free time during the holidays allowed me to go back through the last three Figure Subscription Service shipments and get all caught up on hold over reviews for the first half of FSS 2.0.

Wow…it’s half over already?

Crazy. The amazing thing is, we’ve gotten some nice figures in the first three shipments, but I haven’t even gotten my hands on a few of the figures I’ve been most looking forward to, like Dragonsky, Keel Haul, Big Bear, and of course Cesspool! That means the next three shipments are going to be full of winners. I’m really looking forward to it.

Until then, check out my G.I. Joe Collectors Club Review Page, or hit the links directly below.

The Ten biggest G.I. Joe news stories of 2013

The dichotomy between 2013 and this upcoming new year couldn’t have been more stark than it was when I was researching the Top 10 biggest news stories for the past year.  We went from anticipating a new film, lots of new Hasbro release toys, the emergence of Kre-O, and many other potential new G.I. Joe events from the upcoming year to a year of total uncertainty.

Today marks the beginning of the 50th Anniversary of the G.I. Joe brand, a brand steeped in history and cultural relevance, and it seems to be a real shame that such an event would go mostly ignored by Hasbro, who wouldn’t exist as an entity today without G.I. Joe’s presence throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.  A damn shame that nearly four full decades of success relegates a once remarkable brand to the potential dustbins of history and pop culture insignificance.  G.I. Joe as a brand helped build you, Hasbro.  It would be nice if you would at least spend some efforts trying to return the favor.

Rant over.  🙂

GeneralsJoes Reviews FSS 2.0 Widescope and Skullbuster!

As we march towards 2014, it’s “catch up” time with reviews that have fallen slightly behind. GeneralsJoes covered Shipwreck and Airtight yesterday, and today we’re tackling Wide Scope and Skullbuster. Certainly an eclectic series of choices for the first four figures, but it’s making me pretty excited as we move forward, as there are still a lot of highly desirable figures left to come.

What’s on Joe Mind Episode #88 4 Hour Holiday Spectacular!

Yes, we know the episodes have been a little more sporadic lately, but hopefully this four hour marathon makes up for it. We spend a healthy two hours talking to resident toy expert Mark Bellomo about G.I. Joe and the toy industry in general, and complement that great interview with some looks at recent G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club announcements, plus a look back at 2013 and a look ahead to next year.

Check out our Podbean page to listen to this latest episode, or just use the embedded player below, and take a peek at the show notes after the jump.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club FSS Shipment 3 hitting mailboxes now

In what can only be described as a surprise, the third shipment of the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Figure Subscription Service has started hitting mailboxes across the United States.

Most folks believed that the shipments would likely continue after the holidays, but some lucky folks have gotten theirs early.

I will refrain from spoiling the surprise here, but you can find the answers you’re looking for at HISSTank.com.

I know I’ve been lax on posting reviews for these, but trust me, this will pick up. I’m hoping to get all six reviews posted before the end of the year. Look out for them!
