More intel on upcoming G.I. Joe: Renegades episode airing

Thanks again to kennywr22 from HissTank.com for further possible verification that G.I. Joe: Renegades will be making it’s animated debut on November 26th.  Digging up tv listings from MSN.com, it actually looks like “Descent” could be a two-parter airing on November 26th, with Episode 3 “The Package” airing the following Friday, December 3rd.

Amazon pre-orders reveal some unseen G.I. Joe: Renegades artwork

A few weeks back I notified everyone of a pair of Amazon pre-orders for upcoming G.I. Joe: Renegades Trade Paperbacks.  These comic collections are due early next year.  Well, thanks to GeneralsJoes reader Captain N. for astutely noticing that Amazon has recently updated the pre-order page and features new cover artwork!
You can pre-order these books at the links below, and I’ve also screen-capped a generous amount of images, too.

A new piece of Renegades art by designer Clement Sauve

While we have no confirmation as of yet for the rumored November 26th air date, G.I. Joe: Renegades artist Clement Sauve has updated his DeviantArt page with a very cool piece of Snake Eyes art, seeming to indicate that Renegades is indeed “coming soon”.
A big thanks as always to fellow Renegades enthusiast kennywr22 from HissTank.com for digging this up!

I know the quality of the art is subjective, but I’m still digging it, and I like that they’ve used an artist with some connection to the G.I. Joe mythology.  Clem’s work on the Dreadnoks DeClassified TPB cover and the covers to the America’s Elite “Sins of the Mother” arc with The Baroness are all pretty cool as well.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed for November 26th…looking forward to it.

Top Ten Storyline events in Real American Hero History

So news has been pretty light, and site updates have been sparse.  But I’ve taken the time to write something up that’s been rattling around in my head for a while now, and try to generate some discussion.  There’s been lots of debate and argument across the net recently regarding newer Joe concepts…how about going back in time a little ways and trying to debate some classic era discussions?
Since 1982 there have been many permutations of the G.I. Joe universe.  Obviously the two most impactful ones were the Marvel comic book and the Sunbow animated series.  But in looking back on nearly thirty years of history, which were the most impactful storyline “events”?  That’s not so easy to discern.
First of all, what does “impactful” mean?  An impact on the fandom?  The G.I. Joe mythology?  The general public?  I dunno.  I kind of went with my gut on some of these and chose the events that resonated with me personally.  I will tell you that #10 on the list was a tough call.  I had a hard time judging that one above some others, but in the end, I felt like the writer of this particular series deserved a spot on the list, and the events (plus the artwork) was important and cool enough to earn its place.
Anyway, check out the list after the break.  Agree or disagree in the comments section.  Debate is welcome!

More information emerges about G.I. Joe: Renegades launch date and writing staff

Keep in mind, I’m taking some of this information with a grain of salt, because the language within the interview is somewhat unclear.  But according to an interview with Greg Johnson at 411Mania, there is a possibility that G.I. Joe: Renegades might air early November…perhaps even the 10th.
Honestly, I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate.  There’s no telling when this interview was done (though it was only released yesterday) but Mr. Johnson specifically mentioning the 10th appears to me to be more related to the debut of The Hub rather than Renegades specifically.  We’ll see.
To me, the better information is that Greg Johnson is involved in the first place.  This guy is an action animation powerhouse, who has been involved in a wealth of fantastic animation.  This is his resume:

  • Beast Wars
  • X-Men: Evolution
  • Ultimate Avengers & Ultimate Avengers II
  • Invincible Iron Man
  • Dr. Strange
  • Wolverine and the X-Men

So yeah, pretty much every Marvel related animation release over the past several years has been written by Greg Johnson.  Just seeing Beast Wars, X-Men: Evolution, and Wolverine and the X-Men on this list is freaking AWESOME to me.  Three of my favorite animated series over the past several years.  Great news.
Another little tidbit of information comes from MultiChannel.com.  The information they reveal mentions G.I. Joe: Renegades being a part of the “Weekend” schedule.

WEEKEND AFTERNOONS
Deltora Quest
Men in Black
G.I. Joe Renegades
Batman Beyond
Hubworld
Hub Family Movie Night”

WEEKEND OVERNIGHT
G.I. Joe Renegades
Batman Beyond
Men in Black…”

Take this all with a grain of salt, of course, but as we get closer to November hopefully the picture will start clarifying.
