Toy Fair 2009 – T Minus 24 hours…

So at this time tomorrow, I will be at a Hasbro presentation for their 2009 product coming up, and I will be providing as much accurate coverage as humanly possible.  I can’t promise I’ll get everything up first, but I’ll get as much information as I possibly can, the best pictures I possibly can, and provide the insight you’ve come to expect here.

Was that sanctemonious enough?  😉

Anyway, expect tomorrow afternoon to see a wealth of links for Toy Fair 2009 coverage including pictures of Transformers, the Marvel 3 3/4″ line, and of course, tons of G.I. Joe.  I’ve had this new blog format for a few months now, and it feels like its working pretty well, I hope the readers feel the same.  And if they don’t, I hope they let me know.

Thanks, it’s gonna be a fun weekend!  🙂

More video game details from someone who’s seen it first hand

JoeBattleLines forum member WNightBlade reports here that he visited a “Preview Event” for Electronic Arts and saw some of the G.I. Joe video game first hand.  According to his account, it is definitely third-person shooter, mostly arcade-like in nature, with fairly basic controls and unlockable costumes/characters.  The level he was watching featured Snake Eyes and “Roadblock” (though it may have been Heavy Duty).

He was not wild about the end result, which if I’m not mistaken is to be expected with pretty much everyone in the fandom in regards to movie licensed games, especially ones produced by Electronic Arts.  Regardless, I’m keeping an open mind until I get my own first hand account Saturday in New York, then we’ll see what I think.

A big thanks to WNightBlade for sharing his experience!

G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA Breaker on eBay with detailed pics

12International seller ws_toys has posted a G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA Breaker auction with much larger and more detailed pictures of the G.I. Joe communications expert.  Check out the auction here.  As suspected, the figure comes with a lot of gear, and ends up looking a bit better with his camouflage vest…not quite so scrawny.

Still going to have to wait until I see these in hand before I’m 100% committed to anything, but always cool to see new pictures.  Thanks to Destro at HissTank for the heads up.

Picture of his gear follows:

The G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA Video Game – What we know so far

As I’ve been perusing different sites looking at various links to articles about the video game it occurrs to me that many of these articles are saying separate things about the game that others are not.  Some have certain details that others don’t, and still others mention some things that I did not realize until I’d read the 4th or 5th press release on this thing.  So all that being said, I figured I’d collect all the info in one easy-to-follow place, and maybe help folks get an idea what we’re looking forward to.  Read on…

G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA video game details confirmed

As we lead up to Toy Fair 2009, more details are starting to emerge about where the G.I. Joe license is going in 2009 and what to expect from the movie-related merchandise. Businesswire.com chips in with a healthy amount of details regarding the upcoming Electronic Arts video game.

The game plans to hit release to coincide with the film’s debut on August 7th,  and will drop for all major video game systems (X-Box 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, and Nintendo DS).  According to the Businesswire.com article:

“…2009 is gearing up to become another watershed milestone in the timeless franchise by introducing even more new ways to engage, immerse and play within the G.I. JOE® universe. The G.I. JOE® video game will feature an exclusive storyline that picks up where the live-action movie leaves off, allowing players to re-create and re-live the greatest moments from the film, cartoon series and action figure toy line. The game will feature 12 G.I. JOE® characters, each with unique abilities and weapons. Adding to the adrenaline rush will be an intense single-screen co-op mode allowing two players to easily unite as a team in a classic struggle between good and evil as they work together to defeat the powers of the COBRA organization.”

Sounds like the game is being designed to appeal to as many fanbases as possible.  Great news altogether, and a big thanks to Mercer from JoeBattleLines for the heads up!
