News Posting from April 19th – 24th

I just wanted to let everyone know that from the week of Monday, April 20th through Friday, April 24th, the news and reporting at GeneralsJoes may be lagging behind a bit. I’m starting a very intensive training program for my full-time job this week, which will leave me isolated from the internet pretty much all day. I will likely do a nightly “news roundup” with some quick links to that days breaking stories, but unfortunately the timely and “first reporting” news posts you’re used to will be a bit behind the eight ball, however only for four days. While that’s happening, I encourage you to hit up the plethora of other great Joe news sites, including the ones I have below. Enjoy Resolute this week, you’ll be hearing from me, just not as much…maybe for many of you that’s a good thing.

Trust me, I’ll be back in time for the Resolute airing this weekend with all of the opinions and news that you’re used to.  Thanks much for the increased traffic as my site has swiftly migrated to a more news-based setup, hopefully everyone likes the changes!

New Wal-Mart listings revealed – MORE DETAILS!

Ah, the ever vigilant Joefan Wal-Mart employees have cracked the code again and provided a rundown of what appears to be a listing from Wal-Mart for upcoming product.  Note, NONE of this can be considered confirmed, as we all found out with Waves 14 and 15.  However, so far the accuracy rating for these lists has been pretty damn high.  I’m reluctant to say what I’m going to say, because it could “spoil” a lot of stuff, but it’s already out there, so we’ll go with it.

tkprime from HissTank.com and the SuperPoseable Blog are reporting that they have dug through the Wal-Mart computers and come up with a potential list for upcoming product:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt talks about his role as COBRA Commander

AceShowBiz.com spoke with Joseph Gordon-Levitt about the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA motion picture, particularly about the recently revealed look for COBRA Commander.  The actor had some interesting things to say:

“That toy is not my face. It’s a mask. I like that I get to keep my face,” he insisted, explaining. “It has less to do with me and more to do with this character that I helped create. That’s more thrilling to me. It’s this thing that was born out of a creative, collaborative process between me and a bunch of other people that all worked on creating this character.”

He also mentions that COBRA Commander’s “look” was a big reason why he wanted the role to begin with:

“The way the character looks, that’s what ultimately convinced me to do the part,” he noted. “I saw the designs and drawings of the way they interpreted my character for this movie – the costume, the whole getup – and I was like, ‘Oh, wow. I get to be that guy? Fantastic. Sign me up. Please. Thank you.”

G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA Shipwreck Review

Our first introductions to the movie figures were samples of the Baroness and Breaker who appeared on overseas auction sites in blurry pictures, and frankly the appearence wasn’t very flattering.  In fact, I was feeling pretty discouraged about what the movie figures might have to offer, but then we saw Shipwreck.  Shipwreck almost single-handedly turned my opinion around about the movie stuff, and gave me a bit of hope, and that hope has continued to rise as more Rise of COBRA figures have been shown.  Now, I really find myself being pulled into the movie “universe” and while there is nothing at this point that will match the beauty of Resolute (in feature or toy form), I’m starting to like a lot more about the movie figures than I dislike.

So when faithful GeneralsJoes follower “davy” offered to lend me his personal version of Shipwreck that he dropped money on, just so I could review it…well, I jumped at the chance.  I was honestly shocked with the generosity and the trust in me to not only send this figure back, but even to open it!  He sent me the figure MOC and told me to open it up and take as many pictures as I needed, so…well…I took a bunch of ’em.
