Darkness Falls update – more set building wrapped up

It’s been a bit of a challenge getting time aside to continue construction on the COBRA Foyer, but slowly but surely it’s coming together.  Sure, some of the seams are visible in the rock wall, but that will be easily resolved with Photoshop during post-production.

Base is all foamcore, with scrapbook paper walls and floor, plus a catwalk constructed out of balsa wood, bass wood, and some black paint.  The latest treasure trove I found was at a hobby store…AM Models produces an HO Scale “stone wall” that comes in pieces to be assembled, and I used those small stones as the stones surrounding the arches, which came out pretty nicely, I think.  I also included some figure pictures for scale.  Some serious hot glue clean up is required before I wrap this all up.

Left to complete is the two doors, stone trim around the base of the walls, and a pair of stone columns in the middle of the floor.  I need some COBRA wall decorations and some other little trimming.  It’s not stellar, but it’ll work.

G.I. Joe: Origins #7 thoughts from around the web

The seventh installment of G.I. Joe: Origins hit comic shops today and already various Joe sites are reporting their opinions on this issue, focusing on Mainframe and finally starting to lead us down the path towards COBRA.  Check out the various links below to see what your peers thought about this issue:

My own thoughts?  I liked it, over all.  Mainframe has really separated himself as a unique character here and has come out of the shell of the generic tech geek that we’ve seen in the past.  I like his rapport with Snake Eyes, and I like his new attitude.  I also LOVE what they’re doing with COBRA here.  Insinuating that it’s an organization that has existed for generations, and that it secretly funnels money through face companies…it almost sounds like the illuminate in a way, but in a very cool way.  Interesting take.

Yo Joe Presents The GI Joe Comic Book Roll Call

Yo Joe has a new GI Joe comic book collector’s tool for the collector to use.

It is called the GI Joe Roll Call and it is one massive list of every Joe comic ever released in English. Starting with the Ziff Davis, the Adventure Team, A Real American Hero, Hasbro, Independent, IDW and including Marvel UK, Battle, Battle Action Force and more. (It definitely includes all variant covers)

The list is intended to help the Joe collector who keep what is in their collection straight and for those collectors who keep it in their head be able to put it in a digital form or print it out and keep in their records for insurance purposes.

Joe collector Calvin Chymy put this together based on his collection.
