Thanks to GeneralsJoes commentor Braxthunder for reporting that MonkeybarTV has just posted an online flash-based game for the Pursuit of Cobra! I’ve only played it briefly so far, and so far it seems to be a pseudo puzzle style game, at least the City Strike level is.
I’m playing as Agent Helix, and you have to activate a series of levers, buttons, etc… to navigate through the cityscape. So far it’s pretty neat. I’m interested in seeing what the other environments give us.
Check out the game right here!
EDIT – The other levels are just as cool… Arctic Threat features Snow Job piloting a Rockslide down an arctic slope. Desert Battle features Dusty (wearing Ripcord’s jetpack!) flying from truck to truck. Lastly, in the Jungle Assault mission, Recondo is piloting a Mech suit in a first-person shooter style game with all guns blazing.
This is actually pretty fun. Cheesy, yeah, but still fun. Check out some screen shots below, especially that last shot with some old school HISS goodness…

Next to playing Helix, the rest fail in design and ingenuity.
Recondo, never see him or utilize his specialties, just the player using a mech firing at some targets. Is this G I Joe or Gundam?
Snow Job, never see him or utilize his specialties, just some random vehicle driving through the snow.
Dusty, well we see SOMEONE. Apparently he has wings now. He jumps from truck to truck and it kinda looks like they are driving in the desert I guess. Judging by the wings and the picture before the game starts it was supposed to be the POC desert attack Ripcord.
Hasbro once agains misses the point and the part that makes Joe unique. The individual personalities and their specialties. It’s now about just playing something that looks like it’s in the desrt or the jungle. It’s about using the character and his talent WHILE he is in the enviroment.
Why is it important to have Snow Job, Recondo and Dusty when it just feels the same as playing Duke, Ripcord or Heavy Duty?
It’s almost like the design team for the brand is actually comprised of last years summer interns. Welcome to Hasbro, you’re doing Joe, just make up something and then next year we’ll transfer you to Star Wars, Marvel or Transformers. Seriously!
Not sure where or how to post this but MonkeybarTV.com has 2 new joe comics up featuring Storm Shadow and Snake-eyes. Pretty cool too!
