Kudos to Snake Eyes from HissTank.com for digging up a really cool video that’s been posted at BestBuy.com called “The G.I. Joe Phenomenon”. Featuring some terrific looks at old school commercials, comics, and toys, Hasbro employee (and G.I. Joe enthusiast) Derryl DePriest gives a great rundown at the history of the toyline leading up to the Rise of Cobra. A must watch for any Joe fan.
Check it out at BestBuy.com, the link entitled “The G.I. Joe Phenomenon”.
That was very cool! Being a younger fan of RAH (I was born in ’85) I missed out on a lot of those commercials, so it’s cool to see them in action.
Thanks
It’s a much weatch for any Joe fan and I hope it’s included on the RoC DVD.
I was also impressed; it wasn’t all inclusive, yet it seemed to really hit a lot of the key things that made GI Joe so much a part of my childhood. I especially liked the insight into why the cartoon’s violence was dumbed down.
That was pretty cool! But no Larry Hama? C’moooon.
