Thanks to both Film Music Reporter and Varese Sarabande we have some details on the upcoming musical score for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The score is slated to be released on April 2nd, shortly after the film’s theatrical debut, however the track list should be available within “the next couple of weeks”. The film is being scored by Henry Jackman, also known for his work on X-Men First Class, Wreck-It Ralph, and Kick Ass.
Along with details about the release, a short snippet of the story was released as well. Not many details that we don’t already know, but you can see that paragraph of details below. I suppose some of these details could be considered spoilers, but nothing too drastic.
Check out the details below:
“Music From The Motion Picture
G.I. JOE: RETALIATION
Music Composed by
Henry Jackman
(Wreck-It Ralph, X-Man: First Class, Kick-Ass)G.I. JOE: RETALIATION features the G.I. Joe Team coming into a conflict with Zartan, Storm Shadow and Firefly, all serving under the newly released Cobra Commander. Zartan (who is still impersonating the President of the United States) frames all G.I. Joe operatives as traitors to the United States, exterminating most of them and leaving a small group of survivors. Zartan and the Commander now have all the world leaders under Cobra’s control, with their advanced warheads aimed at innocent populaces around the world. Badly beaten, outnumbered and outgunned, the Joes make a desperate plan to overthrow Cobra Commander and take back the world, with their secret black operation called the “Second American Revolution,” which involves the return of the original G.I. Joe General Joseph Colton (Bruce WIllis). Also starring Dwayne Johnson, with Channing Tatum, Arnold Vosloo, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, and Lee Byung-hun reprising their roles from G.I. Joe: The Rise Of C.O.B.R.A.
The high-octane score is from action veteran Henry Jackman, who provided the sonic punch for Kick-Ass and Wreck-It Ralph.
Paramount will open G.I. JOE: RETALIATION nationwide on March 28.”
Thanks to BCYOJOE from HissTank.com for the info.
Has anything ever been released that has said that Arnold Vosloo was definitely in the movie aside from that little easter egg?
I was wondering the same thing. Will we ever see him at all in the movie?
More importantly, how is it that we STILL don’t know for sure who’s voicing Cobra Commander?
(… please say someone made a Chris Latta soundboard and it’s just all recycled dialogue from the cartoon….)
As much as I love Chris Latta’s Cobra Commander and as iconic as it is, I don’t think it would really work in a serious, live action setting. They need something more sinister and skin crawling. Something that commands not just loyalty from his troops, but instills fear in them as well. Something that makes them think “I better do what this guy says or he might slit my throat in my sleep.” Chris Latta’s CC really isn’t that.
so Vosloo DID return afterall for it, IMDB wasn’t in error all this time. AWESOME!!!!! I was afraid only his computerized likeness would appear as the grayscale CGI face from the knife in that “you’re insane” clip. So glad the actor is back, I *loved* his portrayal of Zartan in RoC.
