A familiar face has received another care package from his Asian comrades, and Gyre-Viper has unloaded a plethora of images in this thread on HissTank.com featuring the G.I. Joe: Pursuit of Cobra HISS Scout.
An Alpha sized vehicle, which is currently in release limbo, it’s a neat little HISS shaped vehicle. Rumors abounded that it would somehow attach to its larger HISS brother, and Gyre-Viper confirms those rumors in the image gallery.
Currently, the status on both this vehicle and the Cycle Armor with Ashiko is completely unknown. The HISS Scout looks neat and all, but I will be absolutely crushed if the Cycle Armor doesn’t somehow find its way to retail. I MUST own that at some point. Yeah, I’ve heard that it’s a bit chinsy and has a tendency to fall apart with the wind, but I still want one, dammit. Until then I’ll live vicariously through Gyre’s images of the HISS Scout below.

release limbo?
hell…in about three months we’ll all be exceeding speeding limits to get to ROSS!

More junk to spend my hard earned cash on.
This vehicle sucks and the driver looks like he belongs at the gay gimp tent at Folsom street fest. It’s a local fetish fest for those of us who go to more than comic cons.
No Ross near me, so I hope that they see a bigger release than that.
I like it on its own, but Im not sure aboout the combined mode…
Minotaur w/ Desert Scorpion is going up next.
Dude! What happened to your HISS tank ?!
*snicker*
I want that tank.
Pretty lame toy. Hasbro has probably rightly decided against mass-release because, except for people who considered it rare, few would buy this at anything other than a steep clearance discount. Seriously, I guarantee that, had it been/if it is released “normally”, there would/will be a lot of chatter from the geeks concerning this toy’s “suckage”. Adult toy collectors are generally fickle and almost purely desire-driven. It’s a goddamn fact!
what FeloniousMonk says rings very true.
if the desert RAM wouldve been released as scheduled at target…id’ve probably passed. at the very least, waited until target cleared them out.
then it got canceled and i, like many, resigned to the fact that id probably never own it at any price.
but when it hit ROSS…
damn if i didnt pay twice (w/shipping) what i wouldve NOT initially paid at target.
The reactions are interesting. I’ve been looking forward to this since the first images were shown. After seeing it hooked up to that H.I.S.S., though, I want it even more. In fact, I want two to go with my two black H.I.S.S. tanks. I love this version of the H.I.S.S. Driver, too.
And I haven’t seen anything other than fan speculation that would suggest this vehicle’s release is in question.
Ah, so we finally see what that connector on the back of the HISS 5 is for! I was hoping it would be for something cooler. I guess this ain’t bad.
Anyway, I was looking forward to the little scout, and I’m not sure what everyone thinks is so bad. Just a little tank with a HISS Driver in dark colors. Nothing bad there. Only thing it could use is a canopy, but…when has that ever stoped a Joe or Cobra guy from hopping into a vehicle? If it’s one thing G.I. Joe has taught me, it’s that you just hope the bullets don’t hit you and keep driving!
Alexx and CC, you two (and General Justin hisself) are are among the least negative adult collectors around, and we all know you’re in the minority. 🙂 That’s what I like about you guys: you all seem to remember that these are, in fact, toys. It’s not a terrible toy, I suppose, but I just find it funny how many collectors’ viewpoints/opinions change based upon “availibility”. In a lot of ways this toy is very similar to many of those JvsC-era vehicles with names like “Battle Blitz” and “Road Rebel”–they left such an impression on me I had to go to Yojoe to refresh my memory on their names–that were almost uniformly lambasted by collectors at the time. Regardless, at a 15-20 shekel pricepoint, I don’t see many collectors, and especially not the parents of children, clamoring for this in a retail setting.
Surprisingly these pics make me like it quite a bit more than I did before. Definitely some custom potential as well.
I do not particularly like this HISS scout on its own, but the connectivity factor DOES make me want it, at least a little bit. I will absolutely buy one, whether at Target or Ross, and stick it on the back of a HISS v5.
The Cycle Armor, I definitely want, as well.
As far as those Target exclusives, I wanted the Twin Battle Gun and the Desert RAM from the moment I saw them, and I was glad to be able to get them at Ross; the Trouble Bubblegum (sorry, Justin, but it really looks that way to me) and the Ace Glider, meh. Didn’t want ’em, didn’t get ’em.
Cycle-Armor will be posted today.
I’ll send you my address so you can mail it to me when you’re done with it. :shifty:
@Justin and Gyre: No, ME!
But seriously, I wouldn’t buy the HISS Scout but for $5. I hope the Hasbro powers that be make something else to hook up to the back of the HISS, because that thing is terrible. (Aaaaaand I’ll buy 2…Ugh)
I think a $15 price would be more of an issue if I wanted ten or twenty of these, FeloniousMonk, but I only want two. When a single figure costs $7 or so at retail, an additional $8 to upgrade from a bubble full of gear to a small vehicle seems fair to me. Besides, I paid $10 each for two of those ridiculous Cobra mech suits (sprinkling in just a touch of negativity to keep things interesting) so I could get the Cyber-Viper figures. $15 for a great figure *and* a small vehicle I actually want in my collection seems like a steal by comparison. The fact that they changed this to black from the colors originally shown already had me wanting it even more than I did at first, but seeing the way these two vehicles connect makes me want two.
I think you’re absolutely correct that the MSRP will keep a good number of collectors away, though.
And regardless of what my good friend LBAM says, I really dig the red and black Flight Pod. I think going with M.A.R.S. decals and no Cobra sigils makes them great for Iron Grenadiers.
id pay $8 or so…..hear that ROSS?…..keep the driver and stomp the scout.
Agreed on the Flight Pod, it’s great with a POC Alley Viper behind the controls.
And LBAM, update your blog you lazy bum! 🙂
Believe me Crosshair, I want to. I have a long weekend this weekend and next, so I’m hopeful that I will get some more PoC reviews up. Especially once I figure out this fancy photography equipment I got for Christmas, that was far, far more complicated than I was really expecting.
Good to hear! There’s definitely a lack of quality Joe blogs out there, and I consider yours one of the better ones.

Suckass! LBAM ain’t gonna reward your loyalty. The dude’s a real fink!
Well, it’s not the greatest toy ever, I think it is rather cute/amusing, typical batshit Cobra design. It reminds me of the later ARAH vehicles like the Paralyser and those battle sleds.
Plus it has working treads, and I’m sure many will kitbash them onto the classic Hiss body.
Why you gotta do me like that, monk? 😉
Just for that I am gonna review some PoC tonight or tomorrow. BANK ON IT.
I stand corrected, LBAM is not a fink: http://lbamtoyreview.blogspot.com/2011/01/pursuit-of-cobra-wave-4-joes-this-one.html
Crosshair still might be a suckass though. 🙂
No comment.

Looks like something from Howe & Howe Tech. Agree the price is way off, but overall I like it a lot. Would be cool if Hasbro would repackage this and the black Hiss together in a window box
