I’m going to be doing two different reviews for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The spoiler free version is being posted right now, with the spoiler version coming probably tomorrow. I wanted to get my thoughts out there as quickly and as knee-jerk as I could, but I understand not everyone is seeing the film right away.
So please check out my Spoiler Free review of G.I. Joe: Retaliation to hear my thoughts on this film. It’s also hosted on my G.I. Joe: Retaliation Review page.
Then check back later for the spoiler version, where I’ll get into who lives, who dies, specific plot points and take a much deeper dive into the event that was G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
This has been a fun ride, G.I. Joe fans. A really fun ride. I greatly hope it’s simply one of many more to come.
I saw the film tonight as well. There are a few pacing issues but overall I loved it.
I am going to see it on Friday morning and I can not wait. It’s great that everyone seems to be so positive about.
A big improvement on the previous film but there were flaws. RZA as the Blind Master was the weakest character and it wasn’t helped with his dialogue delivery. There seemed to be a few gaps in the narrative (no spoilers) such as Roadblock, Flint, and Lady Jaye sit down to dinner and it looked like there was probably a scene of Roadblock cooking because the food items on their plates were rather elaborate (and the prop department looked like they did a great job there) but we only get maybe a quick two seconds to see it. Would love to see a longer extended cut with the missing footage added back. Especially since the closing credits have short clips that weren’t in the movie.
