SuperHeroHype is reporting that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra topped the sales and rental charts its first week of release, coming in third amongst first week sales, behind only Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Twilight. Guess G.I. Joe needs more androgynous vampires… :shifty:

This is great news, but I don’t expect it to last long…Star Trek is hitting on the 17th and I’m sure that’ll take a chunk out of sales and rentals, but still a strong showing for The Rise of Cobra in its first week and more good news about the G.I. Joe franchise.
It is a really fun DVD and I really enjoy my digital copy that came free with the two-disc. G.I. Joe where ever I go! But I hear ya, the Star Trek two disc is offering up the same digital download and it’s gonna get quite a lot of play from me.
The more I watch the DVD, the better I appreciate the story they built up. I KNOW it’s not comic accurate, but it is great action.

careful or for the sequel, Flint will be reimagined as a Twilight-style vampire and get a fight scene with Major Bludd, who will be reimagined as a ginat robot with metallic beard and robo-cajones
This is good news, especially for a sequel. Home video sales play a much bigger part in determining the profitability of films now than ever before. So this is good news for Joe fans.
