Mere days after the unreleased Training Snake Eyes was shown on JoeIntel, test shot maestro Gyre-Viper at HissTank.com has shown some pictures of the unreleased “Iron Klaw Trooper” that was initially slated to come with another wave of Comic Packs before the line shifted to a movie theme. Check out the mirrored images below.

This… is awesome. From what I’ve seen there hasn’t been much unreleased stuff that has really made me sad that it won’t make it to retail. Resolute stuff aside of course (which looks to be coming in a boxed set in 2010). But this Iron Klaw Trooper? Damn, man. I love it. I was a big fan of the Extreme universe, but the figures were horrible, it’s freaking great to see those characters worked into the Anniversary line, even with just a new head, beret, weapon, and webgear. The base figure looks to be an Iron Grenadier Destro. Regardless of all this, the figure is very cool, and I hope Hasbro finds some way to work this tooling into the Pursuit of COBRA line. I really love the face sculpt and skull-themed webgear. Very cool figure.
He also showcased some images from the upcoming Pursuit of COBRA Arctic Destro, which is another pretty neat one. Those ice-cased accessories are pretty cool and the sculpt is great. Check out those images below.

Actually, it looks like the Iron Klaw Trooper utilizes only the arms and legs from IG Destro, the torso looks to be from the first Destro.
That is a great looking figure, it would really be a shame if it does not see release in some form.
This only makes me hate even more RoC, because of it taking over, a bunch of cool figures were left out; i hate that movie with all my guts.
Umm…in case you hadn’t noticed, the Comic Packs got canceled for no retailer support MONTHS before the movie stuff even hit. Don’t just assume the two are directly related. If not for the movie we’d have zero Joe toys right now, and zero chance of getting anything cool like this down the line. If this figure comes out and you love it, you’d better thank the movie for it, it wouldn’t have been possible without it.
So, we got Matt Trakker, a “nothing to do with G.I. Joe” character, but couldn’t get a character from one of the other Joe mythos. That makes me hate Trakker more.
Sorry Justin, but I think the lack of retailer support was due to the coming movie product line, and not due to low sales. Why do I say this? Because Wal Mart jacked up their comic Pack prices from $10 to $13 at the same time it was announced that this comic pack wave was canceled (along with the last wave of single carded figures). Many Targets (but not all) also raised their prices. Not to mention that the comic packs continued to sell at that $13 price point. The only comic packs to make it to clearance at the two Wal Marts closest to me were Wave 1 Hawk vs. Scarlett packs that were waaaaaayyyy over-produced and peg warming for a long time. You don’t raise prices when something isn’t selling, you drop them. The fact that they raised prices tells me that sales were strong enough to justify the increased price. And I’ve been to dozens of Wal Marts and it was the same story at all of them, $13 comic packs on the shelf until after the RoC line was out and the only comic packs still to be found at that price were peg warmers like Duke/Cobra Commander and Hawk/Scarlett.
I wish we would’ve gotten about another half year’s worth of planned figures, vehicles, and playsets. There was a lot of cool ideas coming down the pipe at the time.
Aw, that sucks! Well, he’s a generic look that isn’t tied to classic joe, so I hope they find a way to bring Klaw into RoC!
Iron Klaw was the only Extreme figure I had loose and packaged. I’d like to see this guy in my scale!
He’ll be back! I mean, we have Lt. Stone! He’s gotta fight someone, right! (EXCLAMATION POINTS!)
Man, just thinking about it, I’d love to see some of SKAR and The Red Shadows worked into the current tooling. And i’m not talking the Red Shadows from the DD comics, but the Red Shadows like Red Laser or a “Big Daddy”-like Muton.
